Woman killed in Long Beach crash after swerving car into Metro train
The Brief
A woman was killed after swerving her car into a Metro train in Long Beach.
Police said the woman had her headlights off at the time of the crash, and may have been speeding, impaired or both.

LONG BEACH, Calif. - A woman was killed and another was injured after their car swerved into a Metro train in Long Beach on Friday night.
Now, police are investigating whether the driver who died was speeding and/or impaired at the time of the crash.
What we know
The crash happened just before around 11:45 p.m. on Friday night, according to the Long Beach Police Department, near the intersection of 12th Street and Long Beach Boulevard.
Officials said a woman was driving an Infinity south along Long Beach Boulevard "at a high rate of speed with no headlights on." That's when a man in a Honda turned south onto Long Beach Boulevard in front of the woman.

The man, fearing he was about to be rear-ended, swerved into a guard rail. The woman driving the Infinity also swerved, but lost control and hit the Metro train, police said.
First responders with the Long Beach Fire Department took the driver of the Infinity and her passenger to the hospital. The driver later died.
What we don't know
While the passenger in the Infinity was taken to the hospital, officials did not give any indication of her condition.
The LBPD identified the woman who was killed only as a 21-year-old Compton resident.
The cause of the crash wasn't immediately clear, but officials say they're looking into whether the Infinity driver was speeding or impaired.

Fairfax County man denied bond for attempted abductions in Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) — A Fairfax County man remains in custody, accused of two attempted abductions, including one at a Metrorail station. The Alexandria County Police Department released video from one of their cameras, caught on Friday night. 'The pursuit of justice will be relentless until this case completely comes to a close.' The attempted abduction surprised Metro passengers, but they're glad to hear a suspect is in custody. 'That's good, police doing their jobs,' said Leo Martinez of Raleigh, N.C. 'That's what we expect.' Investigators said Gary does not have any prior arrests. They ask the public to contact them if they believe they're a victim. 'This department stands firmly behind the principle that no one, no woman, should ever have to live in fear of violence,' said McGuire. CFD driver injured, vehicle totaled after Franklin Township crash
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WCMH) — A Columbus Division of Fire driver was injured and a fire vehicle was totaled after a crash in Franklin Township Sunday. Accoring to the Franklin Township Police Department, the crash happened at the intersection of Frank Road and Harrisburg Pike just after noon. A Columbus Fire EMS Coordinator SUV was driving west on Frank Road with its siren and emergency lights on, responding to an emergency call, when it was hit by a Honda coupe that failed to yield the right of way at the intersection, Franklin Township police said in a social media post. The driver of the EMS SUV was taken to a local hospital in a stable condition. Police stated that the Honda's driver didn't have a valid driver's license and that the license plates on the car were counterfeit. Motorcyclist critically injured after multi-vehicle crash on I-440 in Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man was critically injured following a fiery multi-vehicle crash Saturday night that shut down Interstate 440 East in Nashville. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the crash occurred around 10 p.m. after a BMW motorcycle traveling eastbound on I-440 crashed into the back of an Acura sedan. The BMW motorcycle continued down the roadway and slid to a rest on the left shoulder. Its operator — a 24-year-old Nashville man — was hospitalized with critical injuries. 1 charged after 2 killed, 1 injured in Columbia shooting After colliding with the first motorcycle, the Acura reportedly swerved and struck a Kawasaki motorcycle driven by a 54-year-old Nashville man. The sedan then spun out and hit a wall on the left side of the interstate, stopping near the Kawasaki. Authorities said a 24-year-old Portland man operating a Honda motorcycle and a 43-year-old Thompson's Station man on another BMW motorcycle were also involved in the crash. Both BMW motorcycles and the Honda motorcycle caught fire as a result of the collision, according to officials. ⏩ Law enforcement said all four motorcyclists and the Acura driver were transported to area hospitals for treatment. The men on the Kawasaki motorcycle, the Honda motorcycle, and the second BMW motorcycle suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and the Acura driver was treated for minor injuries. GoPro camera footage from the scene is reportedly under review as investigators work to determine what led up to the crash.
