Firefighters, police investigating fatal fire in Leesburg

LEESBURG, Va. () — Officials are investigating a deadly fire that happened on Wednesday in Leesburg. The Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System (LCFRS) said just after 11:30 p.m., firefighters received reports of a car that was on fire in the 200 block of West Market Street. When crews got to the scene, the fire had spread to the second floor of the house. Neighbors said two people live inside the house and they could still be inside. Firefighters extinguished the fire and searched for possible victims. Crews found a man's body inside the car, but did not find anyone inside the home. Leesburg man arrested for road rage shooting on Memorial Day in Maryland, police say Leesburg Police Department (LPD) officers found the second resident nearby. They were not hurt. Pedestrian dies after being hit by emergency vehicle in Loudoun County, officials say

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. () — Deputies are investigating after an emergency vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian in Loudoun County on Friday night, officials said. At around 9:45 p.m. on May 9, deputies responded to the report of a pedestrian who had been hit by a Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System (LCFRS) vehicle in the eastbound lanes of Route 7, just west of the interchange at Loudoun County Parkway, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Woman hospitalized following two-vehicle crash in Lorton At the scene, deputies said they found Michael James Singer, 39, of Ashburn, who had been stuck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. As of Saturday morning, the cause of the crash has not been released. In addition, deputies could not specify the type of emergency vehicle that struck Singer. The investigation is ongoing.
