L Ganesan cremated with state honours

Chennai: Former Nagaland governor L Ganesan was cremated at Besant Nagar electric crematorium on Saturday with state honour. Earlier, Ganesan's mortal remains, which were kept at his residence on Venkatnarayana Road in T Nagar on Friday, were taken to GCC ground opposite Natesan Park in Venkatnarayana Road on Saturday morning. Chief minister M K Stalin paid his respects to Ganesan. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not pay respects in person, he had sent a wreath via Stalin. Deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin placed the wreath on Ganesan's mortal remains. Governor R N Ravi, Maharashtra governor C P Radhakrishnan, Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, Union ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal and L Murugan, NTK chief Seeman, DK president K Veeramani and others bid farewell to the departed leader. After final rituals were completed, he was laid to rest with the Tricolour. Ganesan died on Friday evening due to catastrophic intracerebral haemorrhage. Nagaland Governor L Ganesan CHENNAI: Nagaland Governor L Ganesan died on Friday after a brief period of hospitalisation in Chennai. He was 80. Ganesan was admitted to Apollo Hospitals on August 8, and his condition steadily deteriorated since then. Born in Thanjavur in 1945, Ganesan was drawn towards the Hindu Munnani and later joined the BJP to become one of the seasoned leaders of the party in Tamil Nadu. He held multiple party positions, including state president of BJP, before assuming gubernatorial posts.
