Man charged with attempted murder by arson in Simsbury
SIMSBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — A Coventry man accused of throwing multiple Molotov cocktails at a home in November was arrested Monday on arson and attempted murder charges. Adam Julian, 28, was charged with criminal attempt/commit murder in the commission of arson, first-degree arson of an occupied building, and illegal bomb manufacturing. LIFESTAR called to Simsbury for burn victim Police said it was Nov. 26, 2024, when Julian allegedly threw the incendiary devices at the home, which was occupied at the time by a former acquaintance of his. None of the people inside were injured, police said. The incident is under investigation by Simsbury police, with assistance from the Simsbury Fire Marshal's Office and the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosive Investigation Unit. 1 person injured in possible arson fire in East Hartford Julian was held on a $1 million bond and transported to Hartford Superior Court for arraignment. Driver arrested after pedestrian struck by 2 vehicles in Meriden
The archive video above aired on March 6, 2025. MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Meriden police say an arrest has been made after a man was struck by two vehicles while crossing the street Thursday afternoon. The 73-year-old pedestrian is in stable condition as of Friday, according to police, who said he was transferred from the scene to a trauma center by LIFE STAR. Man accused of trying to kidnap 2 juvenile girls at Bristol Dollar Tree Police determined the man was legally crossing the street at the intersection of Park Street and Center Street when just after noon he was struck and knocked to the ground by a blue Ford Explorer with a New Jersey license plate. The vehicle kept driving and left without trying to help the man or call authorities, according to police and a video of the incident. While the pedestrian remained on the ground, police said a red Toyota Rav4 ran him over, causing additional injuries. That driver did stop and is cooperating with the investigation. Waterbury man hospitalized with life-threatening injury after traffic incident The first driver was later located near the Meriden Public Library and admitted to his involvement, police said. Diego Mosqura-Garcia, 31, was charged with evading responsibility in a motor vehicle collision causing serious injuries, operating a motor vehicle while license is suspended, and failure to exercise due care near a pedestrian. Mosqura-Garcia was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on March 20. The case remains under investigation. Man dead after striking utility pole in Sterling, state police investigate
STERLING, Conn. (WTNH) — A man died on Thursday after striking a utility pole in Sterling Wednesday evening, according to state police. State police say the victim, Michael Ryan Theriault, 42, of Moosup, was extracted from the car by a passerby, taken by ambulance to a local hospital and then transported by LIFESTAR to Hartford Hospital where he died due to his injuries. Police investigating robbery at Liberty Bank in New Haven Theriault was driving a Nissan Altima south around 6:47 p.m. on Ekonk Hill Road in Sterling and ran off the roadway before striking a utility pole. The car came to an uncontrolled final rest in a ditch and burst into flames. He was removed from the car before it combusted, according to authorities. State police are investigating the crash.
