Angel Gomes to leave Lille this summer on free transfer
Angel Gomes has announced that he is leaving Lille this summer in a development that is set to spark the interest of a number of Premier League clubs. The England midfielder announced in a statement on his Instagram account that his four-year stay with the Ligue 1 club has come to an end. It means the 24-year-old, who made three appearances for England under interim manager Lee Carsley last year, will become available on a free transfer. Gomes wrote: 'After four unforgettable years at LOSC Lille, it's time for me to say goodbye. 'This club has been more than just a team — it's been a family, a home, and a place that has shaped me both on and off the pitch. 'Like any journey, there were ups and downs, highs and lows, but I'm truly grateful to my team-mates and the fans for sticking with me throughout.' London-born Gomes joined Lille from Manchester United in 2020, and spent his first season on loan at Portuguese club Boavista before establishing himself under former coach Paulo Fonseca.

According to Matteo Moretto, Napoli have already submitted a verbal proposal to the Canadian star, who has netted 25 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions this term. Newcastle and Barcelona have asked for information about the player, and David admitted this past November that playing for the Blaugrana would be a dream come true, as they are the club he grew up watching.

Football: Jonathan David announces departure from LOSC Lille
Lille: Canadian striker Jonathan David has announced his decision to leave Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille at the end of the season through an emotional post on Instagram. The 25-year-old will leave as a free agent upon the expiry of his contract. This decision follows after the striker has been linked with Serie A clubs Juventus and Napoli, while FC Barcelona and Newcastle are also interested. 'I wanted to tell you myself that after so many years at the club, it's finally time to say goodbye. I've had five wonderful seasons here, and I know it hasn't always been easy, but I hope that with my goals and my celebrations, I have managed to bring you some joy. Notably, the French Championship and the League championship trophy. I think that with these two trophies, we have brought a lot of pleasure and joy,' said David in the video. David will be leaving LOSC five years after joining from KAA Gent for a 27 million Euro fee. Over the course of his stay at the French club, he has won a Ligue 1 title and a Trophee des Champions, whilst he has also netted 109 times in 231 games. This season, he has 25 goals in 48 games in all competitions. His last game for Les Dogues will be against Stade de Reims on Saturday. 'I would like to thank all of my teammates, all the coaches, the staff, the medical teams, and the managers. Everyone I have met and spent months with at the club, thank you very much for everything you have given me personally over the years. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. 'And finally, to the supporters, I know I did not have the easiest start, but you have always been behind me. Trouble for Ajax: Wout Weghorst out for six weeks
Ajax will be without Wout Weghorst for the next six weeks, the club have explained following their 2-0 away win against Fortuna Sittard on Sunday. Appearing from the bench, he came on for Brian Brobbey after an hour, earned a penalty, scored on the rebound after a miss by Steven Berghuis and provided the assist for Christian Rasmussen's strike. However, head coach Francesco Farioli announced after the game that his striker had been injured and was in 'a lot of pain'. Following hospital examination, it was reported that Weghorst had broken his big toe on his right foot. Weghorst is expected to be out for six weeks. That arrives as a major blow to Ajax, who let Chuba Akpom leave for LOSC Lille last week. Farioli now has just one fully-fledged striker at his disposal in Brian Brobbey and the Italian boss may have to call up Julian Rijkhoff (20) or Don-Angelo Konadu (18) from Jong Ajax.
