Hauser sprints to triathlon victory, leads world series

Australia's Matt Hauser has won a sprint finish to secure his first World Triathlon Championship Series win of the season in Japan and go to the top of the standings. Hauser held off Portugal's Vasco Vilaca in a thrilling race on Saturday, making him the man to catch after two of the eight races which culminate with the Championship Finals on home soil in Wollongong this October. The result adds to a strong start to Hauser's 2025 season, following his silver at the opener in Abu Dhabi, where he was edged out in a sprint showdown by Kiwi star Hayden Wilde - who has subsequently suffered multiple broken bones in a bike crash. "I couldn't settle for third, second, or anything less than first until I'd given everything to the line," said 27-year-old Hauser after his win. "I tried to produce a bit of that Aussie spirit today and it got me home first, which I'm super glad about. "Wollongong World Championships this year – it's the year of the Aussies. Hopefully we can go back and put on a show for you all. "It should be a great year ahead. It's my first Olympic distance World Triathlon Championship Series win so I'm really proud of that." The Queenslander was at his trademark best in the water, emerging second from the 750m swim and he was among the leaders coming off the rain-slick bike course. Hauser, Vilaca and Brazil's Miguel Hidalgo broke clear and were left to slug it out for the medals over the final 2.5kms of the 10km run leg. With 1km to go, Vilaca surged and Hidalgo was unable to respond, but Hauser dug deep before launching his own move and pulling clear down the blue carpet. "I learned a few lessons in Abu Dhabi, not to go to early and burn my matches," Hauser said. Hauser's heroics capped off a strong day for the Australians in both the elite and para triathlon events. Luke Willian opened his season with a solid showing, finishing 12th, while Ellie Hoitink was 34th in the women's race, won by Jeanna Lehair (LUX). Earlier in the day, Lauren Parker (PTWC) and Anu Francis (PTS2) both claimed gold medals in the World Triathlon Para Series, making it back-to-back wins to start their seasons. Jack Howell (PTS4) secured a hard-fought silver medal, just edged out in a dramatic sprint finish by Martin Schulz (GER), while Maggie Sandles (PTVI) with guide Lauren Sprague, and Grace Brimelow (PTS5) bagged bronze medals. Leica partners with Greg Williams for the first-ever 'Artist Look' in the Leica Lux app inspired by the classic Tri-X 400 look

Leica has unveiled the latest update to its LUX iPhone app, and with it, the first in a new series of cinematic "Artist Looks" - a collaboration that begins with British photographer Greg Williams. Known for his emotionally resonant and cinematic imagery, Williams brings his distinct visual language to Leica Lux, creating a photographic experience that channels the classic character of Kodak Tri-X 400 film, reimagined for mobile photography. This new aesthetic prioritizes warmth, authenticity, and intimacy - consciously steering away from artificial enhancements to deliver a look that feels timeless and natural. Greg Williams is no stranger to the Leica world. His lens has captured the likes of Daniel Craig, Kate Winslet, and Margot Robbie, shaping the public face of modern Hollywood with a style that is both polished and unfiltered. A long-time Leica devotee, Williams was also behind the lens of the Leica Q2 Daniel Craig Edition campaign. His work is grounded in a philosophy of cinematic realism - a blend of documentary honesty and crafted composition. That same ethos now arrives in the Leica Lux app, allowing users to channel his unique vision in their everyday shooting. 'I wanted to create a look that feels real – not overdone, not artificial. No extra sharpening, no effects – just the image and the moment. The Leica Lux app made it possible to bring that aesthetic to the smartphone – with a cinematic depth I previously only knew from my Leica cameras,' Williams says. The new look has been carefully calibrated to perform in a range of lighting conditions, staying faithful to the subtleties that define Williams' work. Alongside the introduction of the Artist Look, Leica Lux v1.7 adds a layer of practicality with a customization feature that lets users mark their favorite looks for quicker access. It's a considered update that caters to photographers working with consistent stylistic themes and seeking efficiency on the go. Leica has also confirmed that this new look will be integrated into the Leica FOTOS app in the near future, meaning the aesthetic developed by Williams will soon be available for use with Leica cameras themselves. Since acquiring the Norwegian smartphone photography startup Fjorden Electra in 2023, Leica has made bold moves into the mobile space. The Leica LUX app, which launched in 2024, has aimed to bring the character of Leica lenses to iPhone photography, complete with manual controls and a suite of visual presets that echo the brand's legendary optics. With an App Store rating of 4.8 stars, it's already proving to be the photographer's mobile tool of choice. The latest update, v1.7, is available now. The Greg Williams Artist Look is included in the full version of the app, and available free for one year with registration of a Leica Lux Grip.

LUX Mash-Up: Reframing Bollywood Soundtracks With Empowering Clap-Backs

SINGAPORE - Media OutReach Newswire - 30 April 2025 - Iconic beauty brand, LUX, has always stood against casual sexism. Through the years, LUX has launched numerous campaigns to fight sexism and empower women. This year, LUX is tackling sexism head-on through music. Teaming up with Bhushan Kumar's T-Series—India's leading music powerhouse with an expansive catalogue that resonates with diverse audiences—this collaboration marks a bold and culturally resonant step in driving the conversation around equality and respect. Rather than dismissing these cultural touchstones, LUX chose to spark a dialogue and offer a fresh perspective. Working with VML Singapore and on-ground partner EYP Creations, and collaborating with India's leading female DJs – DJ Pearl, DJ Tashi, and Dr Sangria – the LUX Mash-Up was created to encourage reflection on the messages embedded within popular songs. The Mash-Up playlists juxtapose popular Bollywood hits with empowering anthems, creating a dynamic interplay between familiar sounds and progressive perspectives. The project aims to offer a counterpoint to potentially limiting portrayals, fostering a more nuanced understanding. LUX Mash-Ups remix and reframe familiar songs, inviting listeners to consider the underlying messages and encouraging a more empowering interpretation of these cultural staples. See their posts here: 'Music is emotion. Music is memory. By evolving the narratives we dance and celebrate to, we can shape a more inclusive and empowering vision of women and their beauty and strength,' said Hinoti Joshi, Global Managing Partner at VML Singapore. 'With the LUX Mash-Up, we wanted to fight sexism without preaching; to make people move – and make them think – without missing a beat,' said Marco Versolato, CCO of VML Singapore. Live performances, curated playlists on digital platforms, and engaging online content allowed the campaign to organically integrate into India's celebratory spaces, sparking both joy and reflection. This entertaining campaign builds on LUX's longstanding commitment to championing women and promoting positive cultural narratives.
