WATCH: Best amosphere in Europe? Real Betis hero carried from bus by fans
Real Betis were struggling at the midway point this season, but with less than a month to go, are in the thick of the fight for a Champions League spot, and halfway to the Conference League final, after taking an advantage over Fiorentina in the first leg at the Benito Villamarin. What is more, the atmosphere in the green half of Seville could not be better. After their exertions on Thursday night, Real Betis faced a daunting task away from home against Espanyol. Los Pericos were unbeaten at home since October, and one of the form sides in 2025, with the imposing Joan Garcia in brilliant form in goal. To make matters worse, Espanyol took the lead in the first half through Roberto Fernandez. Can we just appreciate Antony, this is unreal stuff — AB⚕ (@AbsoluteBruno) May 4, 2025 ¡¿PERO QUÉ HAS HECHO, ANTONY, MIARMA?! 🤯😳@RealBetis @antony00 #LALIGAEASPORTS #LaCasaDelFútbol — Fútbol en Movistar Plus+ (@MovistarFutbol) May 4, 2025 ANTONY PLACES AN ABSOLUTE WORLDIE TOP BINS TO COMPLETE THE COMEBACK FROM 0-1 DOWN AND WIN IT FOR REAL BETIS 2-1 IN THE 90+1 MINUTE 😱😱😱 — ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) May 4, 2025 SPECTACULAR FINISH BY ANTONY 🤯🇧🇷 The Brazilian with a perfectly placed curling strike to give Real Betis a late lead 👏 𝑃𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑏𝑦 @sbk | 18+ | 𝑃𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑒 𝐺𝑎𝑚𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑅𝑒𝑠𝑝𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑦 — Premier Sports (@PremSportsTV) May 4, 2025 However Betis threw all they had at them in the second half, and Giovani Lo Celso drew them level with an incredible solo effort from close to the halfway line. As the clock ticked towards the 90th minute, Antony continued his incredible redemption arc, whipping the ball into the postage stamp for an exhilarating comeback win. After the match, Betis travelled back to the Andalusian capital, and as their bus arrived back at the Benito Villamarin, they were greeted by several hundred fans. The atmosphere could not have been better, with the ecstatic fans giving them a hero's welcome. Isco was hoisted onto the shoulders of the fans after coming off the team bus, and both he and Marc Bartra were in the thick of the songs. And this is after a 2-1 Liga win away from home. #RealBetis — Football España (@footballespana_) May 5, 2025 Betis are a point off Villarreal and four off Athletic Club with four Liga games to come, and a place in the Champions League on the line. That would be their first in two decades, last qualifying in 2005, and they have Osasuna, Rayo Vallecano, Atletico Madrid and Valencia to come, but also must contend with one or two more games in the Conference League. Beating Fiorentina and then one of Djurgardens or Chelsea in the final would mean a first ever European trophy for Betis.

WATCH: Raphinha fires 10-man Barcelona into priceless lead against Benfica
Barcelona have been up against it for the majority of their Champions League round of 16 first leg against Benfica after an early red card, but they have managed to find the opening goal at the Estadio da Luz. It was Pau Cubarsi that was sent off after 22 minutes for a last man challenge on Vangelis Pavlidis, and ever since then, Barcelona have been up against it. However, they have now managed to open the scoring in Lisbon, with the goal coming from superstar winger Raphinha. Raphinha punishes Benfica to continue his fine form in the Champions League this season. ⚡ — CBS Sports Golazo ⚽️ (@CBSSportsGolazo) March 5, 2025 It is a wonderful strike from Raphinha, who scored the winning goal when the two teams met during the league phase. A poor pass from Antonio Silva was intercepted by the Brazilian, who fired into the far corner of the Benfica goal. That could be a massive goal in this tie. Barcelona would have settled for a 0-0 draw to take back to the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys for next week's return leg, but now they have a lead to hold on to.

‘Talk now' – Real Madrid star's message to Atlético boss Diego Simeone
Real Madrid star Brahim Díaz made use of the opportunity to take aim at Atlético head coach Diego Simeone during this evening's meeting between the clubs. The latest edition of the Madrid Derby, of course, played out a short time ago. When all was said and done, it was Real Madrid who emerged on the right side of a 2-1 result, to secure a narrow first-leg advantage to take to the Wanda Metropolitano for the tie's return leg. And it was the aforementioned Brahim Díaz who proved himself the decisive figure. After Rodrygo's opener was cancelled out courtesy of a spectacular strike on the part of Julián Alvarez, Brahim conjured up a moment of magic of his own, carving out a yard of space in the penalty area before picking out the far corner in style. And, whilst celebrating, the Moroccan international sent a crystal clear message to none other than Diego Simeone. As revealed by Movistar, after Atléti's headmaster suggested in his pre-match press conference that Brahim was unlikely to start the fixture, the 25-year-old responded by repeatedly shouting the following in Simeone's direction: 'Speak now! You spoke yesterday! Speak now!' 🤫 "¡Habla ahora!"@Brahim marca y se acuerda de @Simeone. #LaCasaDelFútbol #UCL — Fútbol en Movistar Plus+ (@MovistarFutbol) March 4, 2025 Conor Laird – GSFN

WATCH: Kylian Mbappe brings Real Madrid back level against Manchester City
Real Madrid did not have a good start to their Champions League play-off round tie against Manchester City, but they are now back on level terms at the Etihad Stadium. It was a fast start from the defending champions, and they had two big chances to break the deadlock. Kylian Mbappe was denied by Ederson after a wonderful pass from Vinicius Junior, and a few minutes later, Ferland Mendy saw his effort cleared off the line after good work from Rodrygo Goes. In the end, Real Madrid were made to pay as Man City struck the first blow from Erling Haaland. Now, they have brought the match back to 1-1 in the second half, and it's Kylian Mbappe that has kept up his impressive recent form. Nunca un mal remate fue tan bueno.
