To mark the legendary president's passing, Inter players will wear black armbands during the game at Allianz Arena in Munich. Pellegrini was the chairman of Inter between 1984 and 1995, presiding over a trophy-laden era for the Nerazzurri. Inter won the 1988–89 Serie A title under Pellegrini, along with with two UEFA Cups and one Supercoppa Italiana. "President Ernesto Pellegrini has passed away. He led Inter for 11 years with wisdom, honour and determination, leaving an indelible mark on the club's history," Inter said in a statement. "FC Internazionale Milano and the entire Inter world extends its deepest condolences to his family." In 2020, Inter inducted him into the club's hall of fame. Three years later, he was inducted into the Italian soccer hall of fame. Inter will be looking for its fourth Champions League title and first since 2010. PSG, meanwhile, is seeking the club's first Champions League crown.

Wednesday's reports claim that Gian Piero Gasperini is on the cusp of being appointed the new head coach of Roma, following his decision to step away from Atalanta after nine years in charge. According to reports on Tuesday, Gsaperini has decided to walk away from Atalanta at the end of the 2024-25 season. The Dea tactician had previously hinted that he could be nearing the end of his time in charge back in February. La Gazzetta dello Sport adds that Roma are prepared to offer a three-year contract worth around €6m per season in wages. Reports elsewhere claim that Gasperini is already thinking about potential summer signings, and that he could be tempted to bring Mario Pasalic with him from Bergamo to the capital. Gasp still needs to formalise his departure from Atalanta, where he has a contract until the summer of 2026. There have also been suggestions that Juventus could look to hijack Roma's deal in the event that Antonio Conte decides to stay on with Napoli.
