LaJohntay Wester Sends Clear Message to Ravens Teammates During OTAs
LaJohntay Wester Sends Clear Message to Ravens Teammates During OTAs originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Former Colorado wide receiver LaJohntay Wester is already turning heads in his early days with the Baltimore Ravens. Advertisement On Thursday, five-time All-Pro wideout DeAndre Hopkins revealed the Ravens' speed board, where Wester's top speed of 19.9 mph ranked third among receivers and fourth overall. Hopkins topped the chart at 20.0 MPH, while Marquise Robinson led all defenders at 20.2 MPH. DeAndre Hopkins/Instagram Wester's impact in Baltimore comes after making history at the 2025 NFL Draft. He was one of three Colorado wide receivers selected, joining Travis Hunter and Jimmy Horn Jr. It marked the first time since 1991 that three Buffs at the same position were drafted, and no program had more receivers taken. Wester may have found the ideal landing spot as a sixth-rounder. He joins an offense led by fellow Floridian Lamar Jackson, who like Wester has a dog mentality. Advertisement This is nothing new for Wester after a standout performance at the East-West Shrine Bowl and a 4.46-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. 'LaJohntay Wester had the highest max acceleration on offense at the Shrine Bowl,' said Shrine Bowl director Eric Galko. 'Dynamic as a receiver and returner, he's one of the best playmakers in the draft.' In his lone season with the Buffaloes, Wester recorded 74 catches for 931 yards and 10 touchdowns. His 326 career receptions rank sixth in FBS history. Colorado announces dates for 2025 homecoming game, family weekend
Dates for two of Colorado football's biggest in-season weekends have been set. On Friday, the Buffaloes announced their family weekend will come on Sept. 20 and their annual homecoming game will follow on Nov. 1. With family members of students flocking to Boulder, the Buffs' family weekend typically yields one of the largest home crowds of the season. This year, the Wyoming Cowboys' first trip to Folsom Field in 16 years will coincide with family weekend. Colorado's homecoming game on Nov. 1 will come against the Arizona Wildcats, who last visited Boulder in 2023 while the two teams were still members of the Pac-12. The Buffs' 2024 homecoming game saw one of the most memorable moments in program history when Shedeur Sanders connected with LaJohntay Wester for a game-tying Hail Mary against the Baylor Bears. Soon-to-be Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter then forced a fumble in overtime to seal a win in Colorado's first game back in the Big 12. LaJohntay Wester receives invite to NFL scouting combine
On Monday via social media, wide receiver LaJohntay Wester became the first Colorado football player to formally announce an invite to the 2025 NFL scouting combine. Held from Feb. 27 to March 5 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the combine will give Wester a chance to put his talent on display in a myriad of drills while under the watchful eyes of NFL scouts, coaches and front office members. Wester racked up all-time great numbers throughout his collegiate career, finishing sixth in Football Bowl Subdivision history with 326 catches. After four years with the Florida Atlantic Owls, including an FWAA First-Team All-American campaign in 2023 as a punt returner, Wester logged 74 catches for 931 yards and 10 touchdowns with the Buffs last season. The Palmetto, Florida native quickly developed chemistry with quarterback Shedeur Sanders and helped make one of the greatest memories in recent CU football history with his game-tying Hail Mary grab against the Baylor Bears in September. While Wester may have lived in the Flatiron-laden shadows of head coach Deion Sanders, Shedeur and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter during his only Power Four season, he certainly has the skills and pedigree to hear his name called in the NFL draft this April.
