Dr. Khaled Al-Bakkar, Minister of Labor, is leading a Jordanian delegation that includes representatives from the three social partners—government, employers, and workers—at the 113th session of the International Labour Conference 2025, held in Geneva from June 2 to June 13. اضافة اعلان Delegates representing governments, workers, and employers from the organization's 187 member states will address a wide range of issues of ongoing importance to the world of work. The conference will discuss the report of the International Labour Organization's Director-General Gilbert Houngbo on "Jobs, Rights, and Growth." The conference will also cover several topics, including protection against biological hazards at work, decent work in the platform economy—where the first discussions on standard-setting will take place—as well as an innovative approach to addressing the informal economy and promoting formal employment. The Jordanian delegation, headed by Minister of Labor and Chairman of the Labor and Social Development Committee in the Senate, Senator Issa Murad, includes Senator Fadel Al-Hamoud, Senator Sharhabil Al-Madi, the Chairman of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry Engineer Fathi Al-Jaghbeer, the President of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions Khaled Al-Fanatsah and his deputy Khaled Abu Marjoub, along with several heads of labor unions.

Amman – The Senate's Labor and Social Development Committee, chaired by Senator Issa Haider Murad, met on Thursday with a delegation from the International Labor Organization (ILO). اضافة اعلان The ILO delegation included Kristen Shapira, an expert on international labor standards and head of the Arab region office, along with Reem Aslan, the organization's representative in Jordan. Senator Murad stated that the meeting aimed to discuss international labor standards and explore ways to strengthen cooperation with the ILO, particularly in promoting occupational safety programs and developing policies that foster decent work environments for men, women, and people with disabilities. He emphasized Jordan's commitment to international labor standards, having ratified several agreements and recommendations that protect workers' rights and improve working conditions. Murad also noted that a high-level Jordanian tripartite committee is working to align with evolving labor standards by amending key legislation, including labor laws, social security regulations, and child protection policies. ILO Representative Reem Aslan highlighted the organization's role in monitoring labor market developments in countries that have ratified international labor standards, ensuring that policies and regulations align with occupational safety and social justice goals. Kristen Shapira stated that the meeting provided an opportunity for dialogue on Jordan's efforts in upholding international labor standards and reviewing occupational health and safety policies. She commended Jordan's leadership in ratifying key agreements and implementing policies that enhance workplace conditions. Shapira also emphasized that Jordan's Economic Modernization Vision represents a significant step toward strengthening labor standards, demonstrating the country's commitment to best practices in occupational health and safety. She noted that the ILO continues to collaborate with member states to develop global labor standards, including efforts to combat child labor in certain regions, in line with labor market needs.
