Woman drowns, child in critical condition in Mauricie region
A woman drowned and and a child is critical condition after a watercraft they were on capsized, according to Quebec provincial police.
The incident happened on Saturday in Lac-aux-Sables, a municipality in the Mauricie region located about 90 kilometres northeast of Trois-Rivières.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) received a 911 call just before 11 a.m. about a woman and a child that were found unconscious in the water. According to preliminary information, none of them were wearing a flotation device.
Following resuscitation efforts, both the woman and the child were transported to hospital, where the woman's death was confirmed.
It's not clear if the woman and child were related and police did not say how old they were.
