He was instead messaging law enforcement and was arrested at a restaurant. MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. - A Union Grove man is accused of child enticement after police said he tried to meet who he thought was a 14-year-old girl "with the intent of engaging in sexual activity." In Court Court records show 41-year-old Steven Lachance is charged with child enticement (sexual contact), using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and three counts of causing a child to view sexual activity – all felonies. His bond was set at $10,000 on Wednesday. According to a criminal complaint, the organization reported Lachance had been arranging to meet a 14-year-old girl for "sexual activity." The person Lachance was messaging online, though, was actually an adult with BOOPAC's Promise. Police reviewed the chat logs and took over communication – continuing to pose as the 14-year-old girl. They arranged to meet at a Mount Pleasant fast food restaurant on April 17. Court filings said Lachance was arrested when he went there. When interviewed, the complaint states Lachance admitted he was planning to meet a girl, who he believed to be a minor, at the restaurant. Cole Eiserman's overtime strike gets BU past game UMass in lively Hockey East quarterfinal

The Terriers came out buzzing, with junior Devin Kaplan's shot nicking the outside of the left post 1:05 into the contest. BU broke through when Shane Lachance put his own rebound past UMass goalie Michael Hrabal just over five minutes in. The Terriers were on the power play after Ryan Lautenbach went off for hooking. Eiserman sent in a shot that was knocked down in front of the net, where Lachance tracked it down on the doorstep. Hrabal made the initial save, the puck then rolling to the right before Lachance was able to gather it along the goal line and send it back in from his knees off Hrabal's back for the score. Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up There was a bit of a scary moment later in the first when BU's Jack Hughes had a breakaway shorthanded bid, but collided with Hrabal, dislodging the net. The 6-foot-7-inch netminder fell to the ice clutching his leg, but was able to continue after a brief stoppage in play. Advertisement Trailing, 1-0, after the first period, UMass drew even 3:32 into the second on a goal by sophomore Jack Musa. The play was set up by junior Cole O'Hara, who circled around the net and carried the puck out front. His bid was denied, but Musa was able to knock it past BU goalie Mikhail Yegorov. With the assist, O'Hara tied the program's Division 1 record of 51 points in a season, set by James Marcou in 2009-10. The Terriers reclaimed the lead at 11:26. Jack Hughes, Tom Willander, and Sascha Boumedienne broke in on a three-on-two. Hughes carried the puck down the left side, with Willander skating down the middle toward the net to draw the defense. That left Boumedienner wide open to bury the pass from Hughes past Hrabal for the 2-1 advantage. Advertisement The goal came moments after UMass muffed a two-on-one chance of its own when sophomore Dans Locmelis attempted a pass that Boumedienne broke up. UMass nearly tied the game up again with less than five minutes remaining in the second when gradute senior Joey Musa found himself alone in front of the net and deked Yegorov, but his shot clanged off the left post. BU appeared to double the lead when Quinn Hutson roofed one past Hrabal with 45.6 seconds left in the period, but the goal was overturned after UMass successfully challenged for an offside. The Minutemen carried that momentum into the third period, during which they outshot the Terriers, 19-9. Only one puck got past Yegorov, though: Aydar Suniev tied the game at 2 with 11:17, assisted by Locmelis and Lautenbach. Down, 2-0, to the conference's No. 2 seed just 56 seconds into the second period, No. 7 Harvard tied it with goals from Zakary Karpa and Mason Langenbrunner in the next 2:54. Quinnipiac 4, Brown 0 — The ECAC regular-season champion Bobcats (24-10-2) completed a two-game quarterfinal sweep of the Bears (14-15-3), earning a return to the conference semifinals in Lake Placid with their eighth straight playoff victory at home in Hamden, Conn. Tyler Borgula scored twice, including the middle goal of three third-period tallies for Quinnipiac, with Matej Marinov stopping 34 shots for the shutout. Dartmouth 7, Union 2 — The Big Green (18-12-2) posted their highest scoring game of the season in completing a two-game ECAC quarterfinal sweep of the Garnet Chargers (19-14-3) in Schenectady, N.Y. Luke Haymes and Nate Morgan each scored twice for Dartmouth, the latter's goals the first and last of a four-goal third period. Advertisement Bentley 2, Sacred Heart 0 — A night after needing to erase a two-goal deficit, Ethan Leyh needed just 56 seconds to put the Falcons (22-14-2) ahead in Fairfield, Conn., as the No. 3 seeds in Atlantic Hockey completed a two-game quarterfinal sweep of the No. 2 Pioneers (21-13-5). Appleton pub denied license for devices that police say are illegal gambling machines

APPLETON — A new business that tried to license five amusement machines had its application denied by Appleton police, who determined four of the devices were illegal gambling machines. The same or similar devices, though, are in operation at other businesses in Appleton, Jason Lachance of De Pere told the city's Safety and Licensing Committee. "I think everybody here has been to a bar, a restaurant, whatever, that has them in there in the city of Appleton," Lachance said. "I know I have." Appleton requires applicants for a mechanical amusement device license to identify the brand/name and type of device. Pizzeria Pub & Bar, 1200 N. Sharon St., listed five devices. Only a dartboard passed the police review. "It's been a relatively recent change where the application has been altered to include requesting enough information to frankly figure out what in the world individual machines are," Assistant City Attorney Zak Buruin said. Buruin acknowledged that illegal gambling devices are operating in the city, but he said that was an enforcement issue, not the licensing issue before the committee. On a 5-0 vote, the committee upheld the denial of the license. It will be considered Wednesday by the Common Council. According to the Wisconsin Department of Administration, video gaming devices are not legal anywhere in the state, except in authorized tribal gaming facilities. "Bars and taverns may offer five or fewer devices for amusement only, meaning they must be free to play or not provide anything of value as a prize," the DOA says. Pizzeria Pub & Bar sought approval for five devices: "Dart Board" "Golden Fortune" "Fusion 2" "Fire Link" "Fusion 2" "Based on my knowledge and research into gambling machines, all of these listed machines (except the dart board) are illegal in Wisconsin" under state statutes 945.03, 945.035 and 945.04, police Lt. Ben Goodin said in a memorandum to the committee. Goodin said the devices also are illegal in Appleton under ordinance 9-52(3). In upholding the denial, the committee indicated that Pizzeria Pub & Bar could reapply for a license for the dartboard, but that would require new $25 application fee. The initial fee of $125 — $25 each for five devices — pays for the city staff review and is not refundable. Earlier this month, the Common Council voted 13-2 to deny a liquor license for Delaire's coffee and board game bar, 823 W. College Ave., due to concerns the business might install illegal gambling machines. Before the vote, business owner David Boulanger of West Bend told the council that he agreed in writing that Delaire's wouldn't have any illegal gambling machines. "If the council wants to include that as a condition on my license, I have no problem with that," Boulanger said. "Yet despite this, I'm still being denied, while I personally identified 15 other businesses within a half mile of this City Hall that currently have gambling machines and are operating without issue." Council member Chris Croatt said Boulanger's statement was consistent with what Boulanger told the Safety and Licensing Committee "since they changed their business plan." Boulanger's statement didn't sway council member Katie Van Zeeland. "The applicant did provide a model business that advertises gambling on their Facebook page, and that, for me, is the biggest reason why I'll vote against this," she said. Council member Denise Fenton also was unconvinced. "I have no confidence that the applicant is telling us the truth about his intentions," Fenton said at committee. RCMP say suspect is armed and dangerous after multiple stabbings in Saskatchewan

RCMP are hunting for a 29-year-old man who they allege stabbed people at three different homes on a northern Saskatchewan First Nation, and also tried to steal a vehicle in a nearby community while armed with a machete. Mounties warn that Ryan Lachance is considered armed and dangerous, and should not be approached. Police say they were called on Saturday afternoon about a stabbing at a home on Big River First Nation, where they say there was an altercation between a male and a female that ended with the female suffering non-life threatening injuries. Minutes later, police say a group of people entered another home in the community and stabbed a male, who also suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and they say another stabbing victim was located at a third home and was flown to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance. While officers were responding to the third stabbing, they say they received a report of an attempted armed robbery with a machete in Victoire, Sask., but the driver exited the vehicle and fled and the suspect -- unable to steal the vehicle -- took off on foot. Lachance is described as approximately 5'6' tall and 150 pounds, with brown eyes, brown hair and a teardrop tattoo under his left eye. RCMP say he is already wanted in relation to an unrelated aggravated assault that occurred in November 2024. Police say the last confirmed sighting of Lachance was around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Victoire area. They say he may be in a stolen black Kia Optima with Saskatchewan license plate 649 NPP, or a grey BMW SUV, but they caution this is not confirmed. They ask anyone who spots Lachance, the black Kia or the grey BMW to call local police immediately.
