Golden Retriever Hilariously Refuses To Accept Cat 'Doesn't Love Her'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Golden retrievers are known to be one of the friendliest dog breeds. They often want to create relationships with anyone and everyone they come in contact with. However, one such pup refused to accept that not everyone loves goldens. In a March 15 TikTok video by user @8_susan_8, a pet parent spots her golden retriever, Ladybug, and the cat sitting together on the couch, although it isn't by choice for the feline. Ladybug sees the cat relaxing and decides to take her chance to make him love her, once again. It is part of her friendly nature to befriend every living creature, but the feelings aren't reciprocated. That hasn't stopped Ladybug from continuing to try. She refuses to believe the feline "doesn't love her." Ladybug sits as close as possible to him without being in striking distance, in case the cat decides to swat her. The owner wrote in the comment section that the golden "learned a few lessons," and yet that hasn't stopped Ladybug from trying to win the cat over. Ever so hopeful this time would be different, Ladybug keeps wagging her tail in anticipation of a positive response from the cat. The dog starts crying. When she doesn't get the answer she wants, she turns to her owner for help with big, expressive eyes. But the owner tries telling Ladybug there is nothing she can do to make the cat change his mind. The owner breaks the news, saying, "He doesn't like you," and, "He doesn't want to play with you." Newsweek reached out to @8_susan_8 via TikTok for additional information. Viewer Reactions The TikTok video amassed over 13.1 million views and more than 2.7 million likes, leaving viewers in stitches over Ladybug's determination to befriend the cat. "The tail wag, the whine, and the look … how can nobody love me?" commented one user. Another added: "She's like, 'Mom tell him to play with me. Tell him he has to.'" A third person wrote: "Goldens, labs and the likes are so heartbreakingly optimistic. They can't comprehend the fact that a living being is incapable of liking them. The sweetest babies on this earth!!" Feeling sorry for Ladybug, someone else posted: "In her defense, she's a golden retriever and this has never happened before. She loves everyone and everyone loves her back. This is a traumatizing experience." Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share?
