Thibodaux infant's skull fractured in fight, two arrested

THIBODAUX, La. (WGNO) — A mother and daughter from Thibodaux have been arrested after their fight allegedly resulted in an infant's skull being fractured on Tuesday, May 27. According to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to Karla Drive on report of a domestic disturbance at the home of Disheekia McDowell. West Nile virus detected in New Orleans There, they say they learned that two women, identified as Disheekia McDowell and Jada McDowell, were reportedly fighting and hitting each other with household items. During the fight, Jada allegedly picked up her infant daughter while continuing to fight Disheekia, resulting in the infant being injured. Investigators say a local hospital determined that the child had a skull fracture, and arrest warrants were then obtained for both women. They have been booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on one count each of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment and second-degree cruelty to juveniles. LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A crash on a Lafourche Parish highway claimed the life of a Thibodaux man. According to Louisiana State Police, at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, they responded to the scene of a four-vehicle crash involving 36-year-old Isiah Thomas. Harvey woman faces long road ahead after tree falls on home An investigation revealed the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office attempted to pull over Thomas driving a Kia Optima, who deputies said was wanted in connection to an ongoing investigation. Thomas reportedly refused to stop and fled, speeding north on Louisiana Highway 308 leading to a police chase. Troopers said deputies stopped chasing Thomas but he continued to flee and attempted to pass a northbound Nissan Frontier in a no-pass zone. A Honda Accord was also headed south on the highway when Thomas collided head-on with them causing him to side swipe the Nissan and a Ford F-150. Man arrested in connection with Raceland fatal shooting

RACELAND, La. (WGNO) — A Raceland man has been arrested following a fatal shooting that occurred in the area on Tuesday, March 11. According to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the shooting, which happened in the 200 block of Wilson Street, around 11:15 a.m., and immediately found a victim who looked to have been shot multiple times. JPSO investigates Grand Isle apparent murder-suicide The man, identified as 46-year-old Chad Ingram, was airlifted to University Medical Center in New Orleans, where he was later pronounced dead. When deputies arrived on scene, the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Kody Cheramie, was still present. Investigators say Cheramie had been arguing with Ingram when he allegedly pulled a firearm and shot at the victim several times. Law enforcement officials say deputies secured the firearm from Cheramie and arrested him. He has been booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on second-degree murder. LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A Cut Off man is in police custody after the alleged discovery of electronic pornographic material. Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office deputies reported receiving a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force of 29-year-old Ivan Reyes allegedly in possession of 12 pornographic images involving children. Man killed in early morning Terrytown house fire: JPSO Electronic search warrants were issued and deputies said they conducted a 'thorough search' of his social media and messaging apps. Deputies said this led to the discovery of six pornographic images and videos reportedly involving children as young as an infant, according to detectives. Detectives said an additional 15 images and videos were found, reportedly consisting of pornographic materials involving animals were also found. On Monday, Feb. 24, Reyes was located. Deputies seized all of his electronic devices for further investigation. BAYOU BLUE, La. (WGNO) — A Bayou Blue man was arrested in Terrebonne Parish following a child sex crimes investigation by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office. According to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office, officials recently received notification from the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services of a possible sexual assault of a child from a few years prior. Tangipahoa Parish deputies search for escaped work release inmate The investigation reportedly revealed 60-year-old Herman Dupre as the suspect, and four juveniles as victims. The alleged abuse happened over the course of several years, with the juveniles ranging in age from 7 to 16 years old. Dupre was arrested following the investigation and taken to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux on charges including first-degree rape, molestation of a juvenile, indecent behavior with a juvenile, sexual battery and simple battery. His bail is set at $525,000.
