Delhi-bound traffic on Noida Expressway diverted for 3 days
Delhi-bound traffic on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will be affected till Monday morning as the Noida Traffic Police have implemented restrictions near the Bird Feeding Point near Dalit Prerna Sthal on the carriageway towards the national capital. The restrictions are in place from 9pm on Friday till 4am on Monday for ongoing repairs on an 800mm underground water pipe. The police have advised commuters travelling from Pari Chowk to Mayur Vihar, Akshardham, and Chilla Border via the Noida Expressway to take the Dadri–Surajpur–Chhalera (DSC) Road and the Botanical Garden route to avoid inconvenience. Delhi-bound traffic will also be diverted via Kalindi Kunj and Sarita Vihar. Additionally, traffic coming from Kalindi Kunj towards Chilla Border and the DND Flyway will be redirected through Noida Sector 37 and the Botanical Garden route. The DSC Road, which connects various metro stations such as Botanical Garden, Sector 18, Sector 16, and Sector 15, as well as shopping hubs such as Atta Market, is also expected to face congestion due to the increased traffic load. During this period, emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire tenders will be allowed passage. Traffic police have also issued a helpline number — 9971009001. 'The pipe lies nearly 10 metres from the central verge. To carry out the repair work, a section of the main carriageway — about five metres wide and 30 metres long — will be closed from Friday night until Monday morning,' said Lakhan Singh Yadav, deputy commissioner of police (traffic). 'The repair work is both important and urgent. If the pipeline is not repaired, it could even damage the expressway. Moreover, with the monsoon season approaching, digging during rains would be challenging,' said DL Verma, Senior Manager, Noida authority.

Noida e-way arm to Delhi to be closed for pipe repairs till Mon
Noida: Traffic on one carriageway of Noida Expressway will be diverted over the weekend as authorities undertake underground water pipeline repairs. The closure, effective from Friday 9pm to Monday 4am, will impact traffic flowing from Pari Chowk towards Delhi. The diversion, which will be done near the bird feeding point adjacent to Dalit Prerna Sthal, will redirect traffic from Pari Chowk and other parts of Greater Noida and Noida to DSC Road, Botanical Garden, Kalindi Kunj and Sarita Vihar. While the Delhi-Noida arm will remain unaffected, vehicles headed to Chilla Border and DND Flyway from Kalindi Kunj will be redirected through the Sector 37 and Botanical Garden route. Due to these diversions, the DSC road, which connects different metro stations like Botanical Garden, Sector 18, 16, and 15, and shopping hubs, like Atta Market, is expected to face heavy traffic pressure. DCP (traffic) Lakhan Singh Yadav said an 800 mm diameter underground water pipeline that passes about 10 metres from the central verge was damaged. "For the repairs, a 30-metre stretch of the main carriageway will be closed over the weekend," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Obtén audífonos premium sin pagar absolutamente nada Top Audifonos Undo Special arrangements will be made for emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines during the period. Commuters can flag complaints on the traffic helpline number (9971009001) if they are stuck in tailbacks on the key Delhi-Noida link road. On average, five lakh vehicles use the expressway on weekdays, with two lakh vehicles alone from DND Flyway, one lakh each from Kalindi Kunj, Chilla Border and internal sectors. With offices and schools largely closed, the traffic volume is lower on weekends. Noida Authority's senior manager DL Verma said the damaged pipeline has led to leakages and disruption in water supply in nearby areas. "If the pipeline is not repaired promptly, it can damage the expressway. With monsoon approaching, we cannot delay the work as it involves digging, which could be challenging during the rains," Verma said, adding the work would be completed over the weekend to minimise traffic disruption. In Feb, Noida Authority had diverted traffic in the expressway section for repairing the water pipeline. "If the pipeline is not repaired promptly, it could further damage even the Noida Expressway. Moreover, with the monsoon season approaching, conducting digging work during rains would be challenging once rainfall starts. Therefore, we have decided to complete the repairs over this weekend to minimise traffic disruption," he said. The officials had placed similar restrictions at this spot in Feb 2025 for repair of underground water pipes. Noida: Over 200 to lose driving licences for repeat offences
Noida: The Noida traffic police has identified over 200 repeat traffic violators and recommended suspension of their driving licence s(DLs), said officials on Friday adding that such a drive aims to curb traffic violations in the Gautam Budh Nagar district. 'We have prepared a list of 200 habitual offenders of traffic submitted it to the transport department for suspension. Most of these have committed five or more violations. We have been actively identifying repeat offenders via our surveillance and enforcement mechanisms,' said Noida's deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Lakhan Singh Yadav. Yadav said efforts, like 'No Helmet, No Fuel' policy for people driving two-wheelers, are also on to enhance road safety and reduce accidents in the district. Notably, the move to suspect licences aligns with the Supreme Court Committee on Road safety guidelines. As per Section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, licences can be suspended for three months in cases where a driver commits more than three offences such as speeding, red-light jumping, overloading, using a mobile phone while driving, drunken driving, or carrying passengers in goods vehicles. In 2024, the Noida Traffic Police issued more than 28,00,000 challans, nearly 20,00,000 of which were against motorcyclists for various violations. Between January and March 2025, 801,000 challans have been issued, with 354,000 (43%) directed at bikers not wearing helmets, says traffic police statistics. Last year, Noida recorded 1,156 road accidents, leading to 966 injuries and 462 fatalities. As part of an enforcement drive on Friday, traffic police issued 5,871 challans across various locations and impounded 35 vehicles for lacking valid documents.

Under this policy, petrol stations across Noida have been instructed to deny fuel to any two-wheeler rider or pillion passenger not wearing a helmet. The traffic police issued over 28 lakh challans in 2024. Nearly 20 lakh of those issued to motorcyclists. Between Jan and March this year, the traffic police issued 8.1 lakh challans, out of which, 3.54 lakh (43%) were issued to bikers for not wearing helmets. The traffic police conducted a drive on Friday at several locations across the city and issued 5,871 challans. Additionally, 35 vehicles were impounded for lacking valid documents. Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Sector 50, said suspending licences of repeat offenders may help with enforcement. "Every day, I see people jumping signals, speeding and overloading. People should understand that these rules are there for our safety. Maybe strict action like this will finally make people take traffic laws seriously," he said.
