Saskatoon man is facing various drug-related counts after allegedly fleeing from police near Elstow, Sask.
On Aug. 14, members of the Lanigan Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan (CTSS) were patrolling on Highway 16 and attempted a traffic stop west of Elstow.
The vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed and did not stop, according to police. Instead, the driver fled from officers. According to RCMP, a backpack was thrown out of one of the vehicle's windows. It was found and seized by police.
A short time later, the officers found the suspect vehicle abandoned in a parking lot near Allan, Sask. A search of the area led to the arrest of three people - two men and a woman.
A 45-year-old man from Saskatoon faces seven charges including dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from police, four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possessing methamphetamine.
The accused made his first appearance in provincial court Aug. 15.
Elstow and Allan, Sask. are located 40 and 50 kilometres southeast of Saskatoon, respectively.
