Police seize 10 million amphetamine pills in northern Laos

The case was detected on May 10 in Bokeo province, some 350 km northwest of the Lao capital, Vientiane. A search of the vehicle revealed 50 bags containing 10 million amphetamine pills, Lao National Radio reported on Thursday (May 15). Police investigating the case are trying to determine the source of the drugs and identify relevant individuals. In 2025, the Lao government will continue to work with relevant departments at all levels to intensify measures to crack down on the drug trade and eliminate drug abuse in the country. - Xinhua

Laos aims to improve stroke treatment
VIENTIANE: Laos is working to enhance the skills of medical professionals in stroke care and treatment through specialised training, as part of efforts to strengthen neurological healthcare and reduce stroke-related disabilities and fatalities. The training, took place in northern Laos' Luang Prabang province on Tuesday (May 6), provided a great opportunity for Lao medical staffs to improve their skills in treating neurological diseases, especially stroke, and to help reduce long-term disability and save lives through timely intervention, Lao National Radio reported on Thursday. The training covered key aspects of stroke management, including assessing stroke severity, treating ischemic and haemorrhagic strokes, appropriate use of medications, rehabilitation, and prevention strategies.
