Veolia clears up cause of discolored water in Midstate
(WHTM) — After weeks of frustration from customers, Veolia said it pinpointed the cause of discolored water in the Midstate.
The company said three water main breaks, a pump malfunction and a system-wide usage surge all kicked up naturally occurring minerals in the pipes, causing discoloration.
Customers have complained of brown water for weeks. Many told abc27 News they felt the company itself lacked clarity throughout the ordeal.
Back in June, Veolia blamed discolored water in Marysville, Susquehanna Township and Lower Paxton Township on sediment kicked up following a training test by firefighters from Rescue Fire Company 37.
The fire company's chief said its crew conducted training in the area but that the water issues started before they got there.
'For Veolia Water to cast blame on the fire department for a preexisting condition is unwarranted and a blatant lie,' Chief Larry Reist said.

Veolia said hydrant flushing has resolved most of the issues. However, anyone with continues discoloration should contact the company.
