Bend-founded brewery will close Portland pub after less than two years

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An Oregon-founded brewery will soon cease operations at its Portland location, just as it ushers in new beginnings in its flagship city. Crux Fermentation Project has informed customers that its pub on 2715 SE 8th Ave. will shutter this weekend. 'Our last day of service will be this Sunday 3/30 and we hope to see you for one last pint here in Portland.' Larry Sidor founded the beer brand in 2012, with the founding of its first Bend tasting room. Crux expanded to its Southeast Portland location more than a decade later in mid-June 2023. The property has since been sold, but the brand is still renting the space as its tasting room. The agreement with the property's new owner has allowed the brewers to ensure the future of their company, according to a social media post. 'The sale of our property last year has opened opportunities, including investment in growing our non-alcoholic NØMØ lineup and launching a 401k program for all Crux employees,' the brand . Owners also reported that it anticipates new neighbors at the Bend tasting room, now that two retail spaces nearby are available. 20-degree temperature drop Thursday as rain, wind returns to the PNW Although the Portland location is no more, Crux products can still be found in different retailers and restaurants throughout the city, including New Seasons Market, Fred Meyer and Fire On the Mountain. Additionally, the company said Portland customers with gift cards can redeem them at the Bend location, online or through one final sale before the pub closes. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
