Ex-Rangers player has a £21m transfer 'asking price'

Whoever wants to buy the Portuguese youngster will need to fork out £21m, according to a report. It is widely expected that Silva will be sold by Wolves this summer when he returns from his loan spell at Las Palmas. The 22-year-old has spent the season on loan at the La Liga club, after he spent the first half of 2024 on loan at Ibrox. Las Palmas-based media outlet La Provincia reports that Wolves - his parent team - have set an asking price of £21m on Silva. The report also suggests that a number of major European clubs are interested. Read more: These include; Atletico Madrid, Villarreall, Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart. Silva moved to Wolves from Porto for a stunning £35m in 2020. He burst onto the scene as a 17-year old with Porto in August 2019 and despite making just 12 league appearances, was on the move in a mega transfer to England the following summer. Wolves shelled-out a club record £35million to land Silva but it's never worked out for him. He's managed just four goals in 62 Premier League games for the Old Gold. That has meant Silva spending the bulk of the last three years out on loan. He enjoyed a successful stint at Anderlecht in the first half of the 2022/23 season, earning him a switch to Dutch giants PSV for the second half of the campaign. Silva returned to Wolves for the beginning of the 2023/24 campaign but once again struggled to make an impact. He was then snapped-up by Rangers on loan until the end of the season last January. It would prove a spell of mixed fortunes for Silva, who would net six goals in 25 games across all competitions for the Light Blues. While some of his performances impressed, others did not. Barry Ferguson is on the brink of erupting at his Rangers squad Some of Silva's goal celebrations also didn't go down too well with Gers fans. He received backlash for appearing to gesture to tell his critics among the Light Blues support to 'shut up', while pointing to his name on his shirt on the final day of the season against Hearts didn't go down well either, especially after the Gers' title challenge had collapsed. Current Rangers assistant Neil McCann, then with the BBC as a pundit blasted that "it doesn't bother" Silva whether Rangers win or lose. He returned to Wolves again last summer, where his contract runs until 2026. But he went out on loan again, this time to La Liga with Las Palmas. It's proved a transformational spell for Silva, who has impressed in Spain's top division. He's bagged 10 goals in 26 games across all competitions and also earned his first senior Portugal cap. Silva's also just been named La Liga's under-23 player of the month. The striker's future, however, is very much uncertain. What does look likely though is that he WON'T still be on Wolves' books beyond the summer. 4 Local outlet Express & Star are reporting that Silva will likely be sold this summer, marking a permanent exit from the club after five years. Now, Las Palmas-based outlet La Provincia claim that the English club have set a £21million asking price for the in-form striker. They're also reporting that a host of huge European clubs are in for him. Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and Villarreal are credited with an interest. So too are German outfits Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart. While it's been a solid campaign personally for Silva, Las Palmas are still in serious relegation danger. They're currently sitting in the relegation zone in 18th place and are two points from safety. There are five games left of the La Liga season to go. The Gran Canaria club have several other familiar faces in their ranks as well as Silva. Scotland stars Scott McKenna and Oli McBurnie are there, as well as former Man Utd winger Adnan Januzaj and on-loan Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic.
