Millions of Miami Heat memorabilia stolen in alleged heist
The Miami Heat reportedly lost priceless memorabilia in an alleged heist. NBA analyst Amin Elhassan told the Dan LeBatard Show Monday (July 29) described the incident was "perhaps one of the largest heists of this kind," in which millions of Miami Heat merchandise were stolen. "This one concerns memorabilia. Authenticated memorabilia stolen from the Miami Heat, and sold for many, many, many, many, many millions of dollars," Elhassan said per a Sports Illustrated report. According to Elhassan, he claims that not just one person is behind this heist and that they had insider knowledge. "It was described to me, this is one of the largest, if not the largest, memorabilia heist in the history of this country in any sport," Elhassan continued. "Some of the people involved include a Miami police officer and someone with ties to the NBA." Elhassan went on to explain that key players' jerseys, such as LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Shaquille O'Neal, and Chris Bosh, could have been sold on both the regular and black markets. However, it hasn't been confirmed which, if any, of those players' jerseys were sold. Timless pieces, such as NBA Finals jerseys, were also among those stolen, according to the NBA analyst. "Game worn [NBA] Finals stuff, and this person was taking them and selling them both within the regular market and within the black market," Elhassan said. "What red flagged within the memorabilia committee is you never see people with this much stuff, right? You might get a game-worn jersey, but to get, like, a game worn, full set, NBA Finals for multiple players?" The Miami Heat went to the NBA Finals seven times: 2006, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2020, and 2023. The franchise has won three times overall in 2006, 2012, and 2013. It's unclear if the incident is under investigation at this time or when it exactly occurred. Major Update Emerges on Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo Possibly Teaming Up
Major Update Emerges on Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo Possibly Teaming Up originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There likely isn't a rivalry across sports that was as iconic as Lionel Messi during his time with FC Barcelona and Cristiano Ronaldo during his tenure with Real Madrid. Advertisement Two of the best players in the world routinely competing against one another for clubs who happen to hated rivals. Between the two of them they have 13 Ballon d'Or awards, nine Champions League trophies, thousands of goals and a debate regarding who is better that may never be settled. While it's been multiple years since they have faced off against one another, the possibility surfaced as CBS Sports reported that there has been a push for Ronaldo to play in the Club World Cup. The 32-club tournament is set to take place in the United States from June 14-July 13, and is the first rendition of the FIFA tournament. With Ronaldo's contract at Al-Nassr expiring at the end of June and him cryptically writing, "This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all." on X, many have begun to wonder where he will end up. With CBS reporting that multiple Brazilian clubs could be an option, the MLS' Inter Miami is also partcipating. The thought of Ronaldo and Messi going from rivals to teammates as their careers wind down would be one of the biggest plot-twists in sports history. However, according to Mike Ryan of the "Le Batard Show," it's not likely. Leo Messi of Paris Saint-Germain and Cristiano Ronaldo of Riyadh XI fight for Meunier - PSG/PSG via Getty Images "The head of FIFA is kind of pressuring teams that are in this Club World Cup to sign Ronaldo," Ryan said. "They have this media rights package that's on DAZN here in this country, like 24 of the games on TNT. He wants this to be big this is the first Club World Cup and he wants the co-face of a generation Cristiano Ronaldo in it. Advertisement "So if he's pressuring all these clubs, one would wonder hey, Inter Miami is one of these clubs in the Club World Cup, might they have interest in potentially loaning Cristiano Ronaldo for just this tournament," Ryan said. "And perhaps form a super team of Messi and Cristiano." After teasing how monumental this would be, Ryan bluntly said "Inter Miami, no interest." While it would have been quite the spectacle, it's hard to imagine they'd put their rivalry aside. However, we may see them play against one another if Ronaldo does end up on one of the other 31 teams. Major news on the future of the Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, Meadowlark Media & DraftKings
In major news for the Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz and its fans, Meadowlark Media and DraftKings have agreed in principle to an extended contract, the Miami Herald has learned. The deal is expected to be for three years. The previous contract was worth $50 million. Expectations are that the new deal will be officially announced as soon as next week. The flagship Le Batard Show, South Beach Sessions and Nothing Personal with David Samson are among Meadowlark benchmarks of emphasis in the new agreement, which was first reported by Front Office Sports. Closing the deal had its recent pitfalls with reports that top executive John Skipper had left Meadowlark and that popular sidekick Stugotz would have a slightly lesser role on the main show. A source tells us the deal Stugotz signed will allow him the freedom to appear a bit less on the main show in order to grow his own affiliated shows, God Bless Football and Stupodity. The Miami-based Le Batard Show is the biggest, most popular property for Meadowlark, regularly ranking in the top five among national sports-related podcasts. Le Batard ended his long relationship with ESPN in January 2021 to go independent in what was said to be by 'mutual agreement.' Le Batard and Skipper, a former ESPN president, launched Meadowlark Media soon after.

Commanders' Austin Ekeler slams Giants: 'What a joke over there'
The New York Giants are the NFL's current punching bag and they're taking strays left, right, and center. Anyone with a voice, from Tom Brady to Dez Bryant, is lighting up the once-proud franchise. Even Saquon Barkley's mother, Tonya Johnson, has gotten in on the action. Another name can be added to the growing list of critics as Washington Commanders running back Austin Ekeler recently took aim at the Giants and general manager Joe Schoen. Ahead of their matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game, Ekeler slammed the Giants as a 'joke' for undervaluing the running back position and allowing Barkley to walk via free agency. "It's really cool to see the guys that were getting shuffled around and kind of 'Oh, I don't know if these guys that can still play or if they'll make an impact.' like the Giants. What a joke over there letting this guy go." @AustinEkeler on Saquon Barkley and the special year… — Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz (@LeBatardShow) January 24, 2025 'Just seeing running backs have success and make a huge impact on their team and help their team out, like Saquon. . . It's cool,' Ekeler said on the Dan Le Batard Show. 'It's really cool to see the guys that were getting shuffled around and kind of, 'Oh, I don't know if these guys that can still play or if they'll make an impact.' Yeah, like the Giants. Oh, what a joke over there letting this guy go.' Ekeler took one final parting shot at Schoen. 'Prime Saquon. 'I don't know who's going to pay this guy $12 million.' Well, he's going to carry your offensive,' he said. 'So, everybody? Anyway, don't get me started there.' During a time when running backs were perceived to be undervalued, Ekeler was among a group who congregated and discussed their options. Nothing came of those meetings but then Barkley essentially hit free agency and reset the market. His success this season will only serve to benefit the top-end backs going forward. Ekeler did not reap those early rewards, however. He signed a two-year, $8.43 million contract with the Commanders, who have an out headed into free agency. And following his crucial fumble this past Sunday, he has likely played his way out of Washington.
