Browns land LeSean McCoy instead of Alex Mack in 2009 NFL re-draft
Browns land LeSean McCoy instead of Alex Mack in 2009 NFL re-draft If the Cleveland Browns had to redo the 2009 NFL draft, how would it shake out? Would they still be able to trade back and land center Alex Mack, or would they stay at pick No. 5 and take a dynamic offensive playmaker like LeSean McCoy? As we get into the dog days of the offseason, outlets around the nation are beginning to get more creative with the content they put out as we wait for football to return. PFF has been re-drafting old drafts, and today has hit the 2009 NFL draft. In the original draft, the Browns traded the No. 5 overall pick to the New York Jets, who came up to select quarterback Mark Sanchez. The Browns then traded down two more times in the first round before sticking at pick No. 21 to select Cal center Alex Mack. That turned out to be a dynamic decision as Mack went on to make three Pro Bowls and be named an All-Pro once in a Browns uniform. However, in a different timeline, what would be the outcome? PFF had the Browns instead landing running back LeSean McCoy with the fifth pick, their original selection with Mack already off the board with pick No. 3 in this re-draft to the Kansas City Chiefs. Here is the rationale for selecting McCoy in this exercise: The Browns traded this pick on draft night to the Jets, who used it to select quarterback Mark Sanchez. With Cleveland sticking here in our redraft, the team adds LeSean McCoy to replace Jamal Lewis, who retired after the 2009 season. "McCoy was a two-time All-Pro, made six Pro Bowls in his career and is among the top 25 running backs all time in career rushing yards (11,102) and receiving yards (3,898)." Hindsight is always fun to look back at. However, in this case, the Browns could not have asked for a better outcome than landing an additional first rounder, trading back two more times, and still landing a Day 1 starter and Pro Bowler.

Eagles' legendary 2nd-round pick lands in the top five of a 2009 NFL re-draft by PFF
Eagles' legendary 2nd-round pick lands in the top five of a 2009 NFL re-draft by PFF Philadelphia loses out on LeSean McCoy, as the Eagles legendary running back goes in the top five to the Browns in a re-draft of the 2009 NFL draft class by PFF In 2009, the Eagles addressed two much-needed weapons in the draft, landing Jeremy Maclin in Round 1 and Pitt Panthers star LeSean McCoy in the second round. Both players had successful careers, with McCoy finishing as the most accomplished running back in franchise history. PFF has been re-drafting classes using data from 2006 on, and in this latest 2009 installment, McCoy leaps from the second round into the top five to the Cleveland Browns. The Browns traded this pick on draft night to the Jets, who used it to select quarterback Mark Sanchez. With Cleveland sticking here in our redraft, the team adds LeSean McCoy to replace Jamal Lewis, who retired after the 2009 season. McCoy was a two-time All-Pro, made six Pro Bowls in his career and is among the top 25 running backs all time in career rushing yards (11,102) and receiving yards (3,898). PFF has Philadelphia sticking with Maclin in the first round, landing the former Missouri wide receiver with pick No. 21. Philadelphia used a second-round pick (53rd overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft on McCoy, and he became the franchise's all-time leader in rushing yards (6,792 yards). A three-time Pro Bowl back (2011, 2013-14) and two-time All-Pro (2011, 2013) with the Eagles, McCoy recorded the third-most rushing touchdowns in team history (44), and he still holds the franchise record for the most rushing yards in a single season (1,607 yards in 2013). McCoy set the team's single-game rushing record with 217 yards during the iconic "Snow Bowl" in 2013, which became the standout running back's signature performance. Saquon Barkley now owns that record after his 255 yards against the Rams last season.

Eagles Fans CircleSurprising Game On Calendar
As the defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles have one of the toughest schedules in the league. A rematch in Super Bowl LIX, multiple top division games, and a showdown against some of the league's best teams all wait in store for the champs. As exciting as some of these games are, they pale in comparison to one particular game on the docket in 2025. Advertisement And it's the one that every Eagles fan is circling. With former head coach Chip Kelly being hired by the Las Vegas Raiders to run their offense, the Eagles will see their former leader for the first time since he was fired by the organization a week before the 2015 season finale. And there's good reason for Eagles fans to want blood in that game. Kelly took over for Andy Reid as Eagles head coach in 2013 and went 26-21 in three seasons. While his up-tempo offense turned heads at the start, he alienated his players, and created a toxic work environment in the locker room. So much so that fan favorites DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy, Jeremy Maclin, and Nick Foles were all shipped out in a two year span. The fanbase has never forgiven him for that reality either. Advertisement With Kelly back in the NFL calling plays on offense, Eagle fans around the globe are circling that showdown with the Raiders as soon as they possibly can. They are looking to finally get back at the toxic coach who blew up what many believed to be one of the top rosters in football. LeSean McCoy sparks Cowboys vs. Chiefs 'America's Team' debate with bold Kim Kardashian take ahead of Thanksgiving showdown
LeSean McCoy voted for the Cowboys in a debate over America's team between the Chiefs and the Lone Star (Image via USA Today Sports) LeSean McCoy , a former NFL All-Pro , believes the Dallas Cowboys , not the Kansas City Chiefs , are " America's Team " due to their enduring national spotlight. He contends that playing for the Cowboys significantly elevates a player's fame, citing the intense attention surrounding past Cowboys like Miles Austin, whose relationship with Kim Kardashian generated major buzz. McCoy suggests this level of off-field interest, driven by the Cowboys' inherent popularity, surpasses even the current fascination with the successful Chiefs and their celebrity connections, highlighting the Cowboys' lasting cultural impact. A "crazy" comparison involving reality TV and pop stardom fuels the "America's Team" debate Despite the Kansas City Chiefs' recent championship reign and the magnetic presence of stars like Patrick Mahomes , former Philadelphia Eagles standout LeSean McCoy argues that the Dallas Cowboys maintain their status as "America's Team." McCoy's perspective centers on the unparalleled amplification of a player's profile simply by wearing the Cowboys' uniform. He suggests that the intense and constant media focus on the Dallas franchise transforms even moderately successful players into national figures, and elevates stars to legendary status, purely due to their association with the team. McCoy's perspective, articulated on "The Facility," centers on the transformative power of donning the Cowboys' famed star. He posits that representing the Dallas franchise acts as a unique catalyst, propelling players, regardless of their initial standing, into a realm of heightened national recognition. Cowboys to host Chiefs on Thanksgiving, has K.C. overtaken Dallas as America's Team? | THE FACILITY In McCoy's analysis, competent players in Dallas ascend to widespread acclaim, while genuine stars achieve an almost mythical status, their legacies amplified simply by their association with the team. This elevated visibility, he contends, stems from the relentless media glare that perpetually illuminates the Cowboys, ensuring their presence in national sports discourse, irrespective of their win-loss record While acknowledging the Chiefs' current popularity driven by their on-field dominance, McCoy emphasizes the Cowboys' established legacy and the pervasive media coverage that consistently places them at the forefront of NFL discussions. This ingrained national interest ensures that any news related to the Cowboys, on or off the field, captures widespread attention, reinforcing their position as a team that transcends mere athletic competition and occupies a unique space in the American cultural landscape. McCoy highlights the enduring curiosity surrounding the Cowboys, even regarding off-field narratives like Miles Austin's relationship with Kim Kardashian. This intense public interest, he suggests, rivals the current buzz around the successful Chiefs and their celebrity connections. This sustained spotlight, fueled by the Cowboys' inherent popularity, keeps them central in national football discourse, beyond just their McCoy's view, this constant spotlight, more than recent victories, solidifies the Cowboys' claim to the "America's Team" title.
