In 2009, the Eagles addressed two much-needed weapons in the draft, landing Jeremy Maclin in Round 1 and Pitt Panthers star LeSean McCoy in the second round. Both players had successful careers, with McCoy finishing as the most accomplished running back in franchise history.
PFF has been re-drafting classes using data from 2006 on, and in this latest 2009 installment, McCoy leaps from the second round into the top five to the Cleveland Browns.
The Browns traded this pick on draft night to the Jets, who used it to select quarterback Mark Sanchez. With Cleveland sticking here in our redraft, the team adds LeSean McCoy to replace Jamal Lewis, who retired after the 2009 season.
McCoy was a two-time All-Pro, made six Pro Bowls in his career and is among the top 25 running backs all time in career rushing yards (11,102) and receiving yards (3,898).
PFF has Philadelphia sticking with Maclin in the first round, landing the former Missouri wide receiver with pick No. 21.
Philadelphia used a second-round pick (53rd overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft on McCoy, and he became the franchise's all-time leader in rushing yards (6,792 yards). A three-time Pro Bowl back (2011, 2013-14) and two-time All-Pro (2011, 2013) with the Eagles, McCoy recorded the third-most rushing touchdowns in team history (44), and he still holds the franchise record for the most rushing yards in a single season (1,607 yards in 2013).
McCoy set the team's single-game rushing record with 217 yards during the iconic "Snow Bowl" in 2013, which became the standout running back's signature performance. Saquon Barkley now owns that record after his 255 yards against the Rams last season.
