Schrotenboer also reported that Travis Hunter's father, Travis Hunter Sr. has been granted permission by Judge Coates to travel to Tennessee this coming weekend to attend Hunter Jr.'s wedding there Saturday. Travis Hunter Sr. is serving three years' probation for possession of a firearm or ammunition, possession of a controlled substance, and driving with a canceled, suspended, or revoked license. Palm Springs Woman's Club to hold annual scholarship dinner March 26
For more than 85 years, the Palm Springs Woman's Club (PSWC) has provided opportunities for women to enjoy social activities and intellectual improvement while also giving back to their community. The organization embraces women of all ages. Members come together for teas, luncheons and fundraising events. Founded in 1938, the club has been a beacon of community engagement, education and empowerment. With a rich service history, the club continues to foster a spirit of camaraderie and charity in the heart of Palm Springs. Members have contributed to the community in a variety of ways, from donating playground equipment at local schools to offering medical screenings. The organization's primary philanthropic focus, however, is to provide scholarships for students graduating from Palm Spring High School. This year, the nonprofit Woman's Club will hold its annual scholarship event dinner on March 26 at the Palm Springs Surf Club. The event, with its "Catch a Wave" theme, promises to be an evening of fine dining and philanthropy with musical entertainment by Leanna & Miguel, along with both live and silent auctions and a raffle. Proceeds will support the club's scholarships and community service projects. Honorees will include Tori St. Johns, a dedicated counselor and community advocate with more than 34 years of service in the Desert Sands Unified School District. She will be presented with the Mayor's Award, which will be presented by Palm Springs Mayor Ron deHarte. Kathy Block, a long-time member and past president, will receive the Pearl McManus Community Service Award for her tireless dedication to the club and her local philanthropy. Mother, stepfather of missing children found in Wyoming extradited to Alabama
MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The mother and step-father of two formerly missing children who were later found in Wyoming have been extradited to Alabama. According to arrest records, Leanna Varcoe was extradited from Cheyenne, Wyo. and booked into the Morgan County Jail on Feb. 24. Pharmacists across Alabama to participate in walkout for PBM reform Leanna is the mother of a 9-year-old and a 5-year-old who were reported missing after investigators said she went to a family member's house on Feb. 3, took both the children and fled. Court records also show that Zachary Varcoe, the children's stepfather, was extradited to Morgan County from Wyoming and arrested on Feb. 22. According to police, on Jan. 24, the department received a report of child abuse from the Morgan County Department of Human Resources. A detective with Decatur Police Department's Family Services Unit was assigned to the case and began an investigation. During the investigation, authorities said temporary custody of, was given to a family member in Toney. DPD said on Feb. 5, it was found that Leanna may have fled the state with the children with Zachary. Court records say 21-year-old killed grandparents with sword and knife After meeting with the Morgan County District Attorney's Office, the sheriff's office said detectives obtained an interference of custody warrant for Leanna. Based on evidence, a warrant for child abuse was obtained for Zachary, according to police. Police in Cheyenne, Wyo., said the kids were found in a hotel parking lot. Officers said they received information that a couple with warrants were in the area. They spoke with the management of the Sands Motel, who told them which room the couple was staying in. When police arrived at the motel, the couple surrendered. Both children were taken into protective custody. Arrest records show Leanna is currently being held with a bond of $100,000; Zachary is also being held in the Morgan County Jail with a bond of $210,000. Woman missing after early morning carjacking in Battlefords: Sask. RCMP
Saskatchewan RCMP are asking for help finding a 33-year-old Battlefords woman who may have been abducted in an early morning carjacking. RCMP said in a news release that Leanna Frenchman may have been taken at gunpoint after a man approached her and another woman as they sat in a car. "The adult male threatened the vehicle occupants and stole the vehicle. One of the females, 33-year-old Leanna Frenchman, was reportedly still inside," RCMP said in the release. "Based on initial investigation and the report made, Battlefords RCMP has not located Leanna and therefore are considering her missing. Investigators are concerned for her wellbeing and continue to actively investigate." The other woman was not hurt. RCMP say they do not believe Frenchman knew the suspect. RCMP are on the lookout for a red 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with Saskatchewan license plate 186 NSA.
