Embrace your inner child at Singapore Art Museum's newest free-entry exhibition
Singapore Art Museum's Learning Gallery, which opened at Tanjong Pagar Distripark last year, has just completed its first run. Now, the exhibition space enters its second cycle with an all-new programme, featuring never-before-seen artworks as well as returning favourites all by our very own Singaporean talents.
Like its inaugural edition, this new season of the Learning Gallery invites visitors to see the world with a childlike lens – one where imagination knows no bounds. Centred around the theme of 'childhood', the featured works delve into themes of memory, identity, the idea of home, and more.
One highlight that your inner child will love is Animal Roulette by David Chan – a wall filled with colourful animal figurines. Next to that is a series of nostalgia-inducing photographs by celebrated local photographer Nguan, featuring scenes of everyday Singapore all washed in his trademark pastel aesthetic.
Slightly more macabre is Here's who I am, I am what you see by Ezzam Rahman. From afar, you'll see a display of flowers in bell jars, but head closer and you'll soon realise that the delicate blooms are actually made of the artist's own dried skin. Head on down to the gallery to see this in person and contemplate the true meaning behind his unconventional creations.
There's also an interactive space with children's picture books, a play area with beanbag chairs, and a multimedia wall with animations that respond to movement.
The Learning Gallery is located at Gallery 2 on Level 1 of SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark, and opens daily from 10am to 7pm. Its current edition will run till June 28, 2026. Entry is free and no bookings are required. Find out more here.
