Free football camps to take place across Glasgow this summer
The sessions, organised by Scottish Gas and the Scottish FA, will help keep "thousands of children active, social, and engaged" during the school holidays. Our holiday camps are about more than football – they offer fun activities for kids and support for parents who need a reliable helping hand over the holidays.' The schedule for these free camps is as follows: Drumchapel United at Donald Dewar, 220 Garscadden Road, G15 8SX, will hold camps from July 14 to 18 and August 4 to 8, between 10am and 1pm. Pollok United at Nethercraigs Sport Centre, 310 Cokerhill Road, G52 1RR, will host from June 30 to July 4 and July 7 to 11, between 10am and 1pm. Whitacre Wolves at Gowanbank Primary, 1 Craigbank Drive, G53 6RA, will have camps from June 30 to July 4 and August 4 to 8, from 10am to 1pm. Glasgow City at GHA Rugby Football Club, Braidholm Road, G46 6EB, will organise sessions from July 7 to 11 and July 21 to 25, from 9am to 12pm. Castlemilk at Barlia Football Centre, 60 Glenwood Path, G45 9UD, will host children from July 14 to 18, between 9am and 12pm. For more details, go to The summer will also witness an increase in the Scottish Gas Para camps, aimed at helping people with disabilities engage and participate in football. These week-long camps will run throughout the year and engage with more than 1,000 participants. Commenting on the the importance of increasing the awareness of the Para football camps, Pat Nevin, former Chelsea and Everton winger, said: "There's strong evidence that football and sport can play a huge role in supporting young people with autism, from improving motor skills and social interaction to helping reduce the severity of certain symptoms. "That's why initiatives like the Para Football Camps are so important. The positive impact they can have isn't just significant — it can be life-changing."

Former Rangers stars climb Ben Nevis with more than 50 fans

The former players walked to the highest point in the UK with the supporters, raising more than £10,000 for the charity to help continue its work in the community. David Henson, from the Rangers Charity Foundation, said: "It's a very difficult challenge, but our supporters were amazing and they have raised over £10,000 for the Foundation so far, with more to come in over the coming weeks. Joining the hardy band of climbers were four men who won titles galore at Rangers. Marvin Andrews, Lee McCulloch, Michael Mols and Kevin Thomson won a combined 29 trophies between them for the Light Blues. The quartet signed up to head up the mountain for the Rangers Charity Foundation, the Ibrox club's charitable arm. Those taking part posed for a group photo at the base of the hill, and video footage later captured fans' favourite Mols keeping the spirits high with a short rendition of Follow Follow. The weather for the hike was a classic Scottish mixture, with some rain, wind and clouds mixed in with a temperature of around 16 degrees. Each participant was asked to raise a minimum of £250 in sponsorship, which will go directly to the foundation. By completing the challenge fans will be invited to a special reception at Ibrox later this year to receive a medal from a current first team star. McCulloch and Thomson were two of the first to reach the top and they were quick to post some pictures from the summit. Ben Nevis is 1,345metres tall and is both the highest mountain in Scotland and the British Isles. A statement from the charity ahead of the climb said: "We are ready to trek to the highest point in the UK, the summit of Ben Nevis whilst raising vital funds for the Rangers Charity Foundation.
