Woman Lands In Hospital After Popping Pimple, Warns of "Triangle Of Death" On Face

A woman, who reportedly lives in Michigan, landed in a hospital after she popped a pimple on her face, Birmingham Mail reported. The woman named Alisha Monaco squeezed a spot in the little-known 'Triangle of Death' area. Hours after that, she started feeling dizzy and experiencing "excruciating" pain. The Triangle of Death area extends from the bridge of the nose to the corners of the mouth and contains blood vessels that lead directly to the brain, making it prone to serious infections. According to the report, Monaco shared her trauma in a now-viral TikTok video. She also spoke with saying that she has been getting these cyst pimples "a couple of times a month", and that was one of them. In the first attempt, she failed to pop it. Then she planned to poke it with a sanitised pimple popper needle tool. The 32-year-old said, "I knew I'd messed up." "The pain was all on the right bottom side of my nostril, down to my lip and even up the side of my face. I woke up four or five hours later in excruciating pain on the right side of my face. "The whole right side of my face was swollen, my smile was crooked, and my ear felt clogged on the right side. It was brutal. I was in so much pain just trying to smile/talk." She went to see a medical expert, as she "needed to get it treated immediately because the risk of infection in that location is dangerous". In case it gets infected, bacteria can enter the bloodstream and travel to the brain, causing conditions like meningitis, brain abscesses, or septic cavernous sinus thrombosis. Infections can spread to the eyes, leading to vision loss or blindness, and can also cause blood clots or strokes, leading to facial paralysis or other motor function impairments. As quoted by Leeds Live, skin specialist Alok Vij warned: "Think of this small segment of your face as a direct line to your brain. That's thanks to your cavernous sinus, a network of large veins located behind your eye sockets. Through this sinus, blood drains from your brain. "An infection in the danger triangle - like from a picked pimple, or a nose piercing gone wrong - has a small but not impossible chance of travelling from your face right to your brain, without much distance to cover between them." Monaco said: "I had a feeling after I popped the pimple that I needed to look it back up on TikTok to double check and sure enough my pimple was right in the triangle of death area. I [then] just wanted to warn others to learn from my experience. "I don't have a huge following on social media so I had no idea that it was going to go so viral, but from reading the comments of all the people who weren't aware that the triangle of death was a thing, I'm glad I did. Now everyone can see what happened to me, and hopefully they will just put a pimple patch on and leave that area alone." In a similar incident, a woman in New York developed a severe infection after popping a pimple beneath her nostril. A teenager in China once developed a blood clot in her cavernous sinuses after popping a pimple on her nose. A woman in Louisiana developed a staph infection after popping a pimple above her lip.

UK households told 'shut windows' immediately with 'insect buffet' invading

A surge of flying ants is on its way and households in the UK have been told to keep their windows closed if they don't want to be invaded by the insects UK households have been warned to keep their windows closed until mid-August due to an impending surge of flying ants. According to insect expert Dr Nathaniel Green, the skies could be swarming with these insects across the country by mid-August. ‌ Dr Green, who has over two decades of experience studying insect behaviour, believes that conditions are "lining up perfectly" for a concentrated burst of the annual phenomenon known as Flying Ant Week. ‌ He predicts that this year's activity will peak between August 13 and August 18, 2025, when warm temperatures, high humidity and calm air create the ideal conditions for millions of winged queens and males to take flight. It comes after an exciting heatwave forecast with maps revealing the exact date a 39C heat plume will scorch the UK. ‌ "When the weather hits that sweet spot, it's like a signal for ants everywhere to take to the air at once," said Dr Green. "Afternoons will be the main time to watch out - or keep your windows firmly shut." ‌ While flying ants aren't dangerous, they're not exactly welcome guests when they drift indoors - and dirty windows could be inviting them in, reports Leeds Live. "Smears and dust on glass can reflect light in a way that draws insects closer," explained Dr Green. "Add in pollen or organic residue and you've basically got an insect buffet. Cleaning your windows before the swarms hit will make your home far less attractive to them." Therefore, he's recommending that everyone cleans their windows immediately and keeps them shut during peak times in mid-August. The specialists at Quote My Wall, celebrated for their window sticker installations, have gathered extensive expertise on window-cleaning methods, as spotless glass is essential before any sticker fitting. They suggest: "Choose the right cleaner – A mix of equal parts white vinegar and water, or a quality glass cleaner, will break down grime and leave nothing for insects to feast on. Swap paper towels for microfibre cloths – They trap dust better, stop streaks, and give you a truly clean surface." "Pick your moment – Clean on an overcast day. Direct sun dries the solution too fast and leaves marks. The flying phase only lasts a few days," Dr. Green said. "Males die soon after mating, and fertilised queens land to start new colonies."

More info Reuben Owen's latest instalment of Channel 5's 'Life in the Dales' took a dramatic turn as the young entrepreneur encountered unforeseen difficulties during a special outing. The episode saw Reuben and his pals embarking on an adventurous journey to celebrate his 21st birthday with a coastal trip. Setting out from Swaledale for Whitby, the group commenced their 100-mile journey on vintage tractors, eagerly anticipating beach festivities. But their plans hit a snag when Reuben's 60 year old tractor began to overheat and leak water on one of Britain's steepest roads, necessitating roadside assistance from a friend. Reflecting on the issue, Reuben said: "It's not gone well for the old lass, I think this could be her final-" but hesitated to finish, reluctant to concede defeat, while his mate Tommy chimed in: "I hope not! You might've killed it on its first run out. She was a good tractor.", reports the Manchester Evening News. The narrator highlighted the severity of the situation: "It's a disastrous set back on day two, at this rate, Ruben's chances of making it to his own beach birthday party are looking slim." Following Tommy's help in towing the tractor uphill, they convened in a car park to cool down the engine once more, as reported by Leeds Live. Despite the hiccup, they managed to get the tractor back in working order and continued their trek to Whitby, though further challenges lay ahead on their path. During a segment of the show, Reuben and Tommy encountered an oil leak due to a defective head gasket. Commenting on the issue, the Channel 5 star said: "That is not good, we're so close to the end as well." Despite this setback, Reuben and Tommy were able to fix the head gasket in the car park of a local pub, with Jessica, Reuben's girlfriend, lending a hand. After navigating through various challenges, the group celebrated their success upon reaching Whitby, where they relished driving their tractors on the beach and topped off the adventure with some fish and chips. Yet, Reuben faced one final surprise when Jessica presented him with a cake adorned with his image, prompting him to exclaim: "What an awful picture!".
