Brazil Hedge Funds Tout Rate Bets on Tariff-Led Slowdown Fear
Brazilian hedge funds are positioning for lower interest rates in their home market amid angst over a global recession as Donald Trump's tariffs roil assets worldwide.
Legacy Capital, a hedge fund with $2.9 billion (17 billion reais) in assets under management, is building positions that gain from falling rates in emerging markets including Brazil, according to a monthly note to clients. Meanwhile Verde Asset Management, which holds $2.7 billion in assets, increased exposure to local inflation-linked notes, expecting real rates to fall.
