Cwmbran: 40mph speed limit could be reduced to 20mph
Torfaen County Borough Council is proposing to change the speed limit on a section of the B4236 Caerleon Road. The revised speed limit would apply from a point 557 metres north west of its junction with Lamb Lane for a distance of 394 metres in a north westerly direction. This change is part of an amendment to the council's 2019 Traffic Regulation and Speed Limit Order. The council has consulted with the Chief Officer of Police about the proposed change. Torfaen Council plans to change parking and traffic rules
The council has revealed plans to amend the 2019 Traffic Regulation and Speed Limit Order. This will affect several roads with changes to disabled parking spots, waiting restrictions, no loading restrictions, and school keep-clear zones. In Blaenavon, new disabled parking spots are planned for Charles Street. Greenmeadow will see changes on Barnets and Melbourne Court. Several roads in Panteg will also be adjusted, including Cambria Street, Florence Place, Springfield Road, Stafford Road, and Sycamore Road. Pontnewynydd and Snatchwood will see changes on Torfaen Terrace, while Pontypool Fawr will have adjustments on Fowler Street. Two Locks will have new disabled parking spots on Ton Road. The council also plans to change existing traffic regulation orders and introduce new ones in various areas. This includes Top Road in Abersychan and several streets in Blaenavon, namely Duke Street, Elgam Avenue, Llanover Road, Upper Hill Street, and Heritage Gardens. Croesyceiliog will see changes on Rose Gardens and The Highway. In Fairwater, Brunel Road will have new regulations, while in Greenmeadow, Bowleaze will be affected. Llantarnam Road in Llantarnam and School Close in Ponthir will also see changes. Pontnewydd will see new and amended regulations on Edlogan Way and Five Locks Close. Pontnewynydd and Snatchwood will have changes on Waunddu, and Pontypool Fawr will see adjustments on George Street and Market Street. Two Locks will have new regulations on Henllys Village Road. A statement from the council said the changes are being proposed under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, after consultation with the chief officer of police. The alterations are said to be part of the council's "consolidation order". The changes have been mapped and can be viewed online. The council is inviting residents to voice their opinions on the proposed changes.
