Indy 500 is officially sold out for first time in almost a decade; 350,000 fans expected
The Indianapolis 500 is the biggest single-day sporting event on the planet, and it's living up to that once again with the Greatest Spectacle in Racing's first full grandstand sellout in nearly a decade. On Tuesday, IndyCar announced that all reserved seating tickets — meaning those in grandstands and suites — have been sold. "As promised, the very best fans in sports have delivered in fitting fashion for the stars of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, and every last reserved seat ticket has been sold," IndyCar and Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Doug Boles said in a statement. "Approximately 350,000 people will experience the ultimate spectacle that is the Indy 500 in person as everyone turns their focus to the Racing Capital of the World on Sunday." The last time tickets sold out like this was for the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 in 2016. If you're still hoping to snag a ticket, you can always check IMS Official Resale Marketplace, or you can pick up a ticket got Carb Day (Friday) or Legends Day (Saturday). There are also general admission tickets available for raceday. IMS and IndyCar officials saw this one coming last week, and as such decided to lift the local blackout of the race, meaning fans in the Indianapolis area who didn't score a ticket can still watch the race. The Indy 500 is always one of the most anticipated races, but there's a lot of buzz around the 109th Running because there are some wild storylines to be on the lookout for. For instance, Team Penske's Josef Newgarden is looking to become the first driver to win three straight Indy 500s. However, he'll be starting from the 11th and final row of the grid alongside his teammate Will Power after both drivers' cars failed pre-qualifying inspection. While that controversy, which involved the modification of the cars' attenuators, was happening, rookie Robert Shwartzman stormed through qualifying to take pole for Prema Racing in their Indy 500 debut. It's going to be a good one, folks, so if you snagged a ticket, have yourself a time. If not, be sure to watch the race Sunday at 12:30 pm ET on Fox with pre-race coverage starting at 10 am.

A guide to Indy 500 concerts in 2025: Carb Day, Legends Day and the Snake Pit
While Indianapolis 500 drivers sharpen their focus leading up to Sunday's race, a bevy of fans will turn their energy toward three days of parties. Providing the soundtrack to the celebrations will be dance, country and rock artists. Starting Friday, the shenanigans will unfold at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and downtown, with the biggest concert — the Snake Pit — taking place at the track May 25 during the 109th Indy 500. What will the weather be for the Indianapolis 500? Here's the forecast 1 week out
What kind of weather do race fans have in store for the 2025 Indianapolis 500? The forecast one week out from this year's race is looking much better than last year, when lightning and storms caused a delay in the race. The Weather Channel is projecting a partly sunny yet windy day with a high of 67 degrees. Winds are estimated at between five to 10 miles per hour, according to the forecast. AccuWeather has a similar forecast for next Sunday, saying there will be a high of 70 degrees with wind up to five miles per hour. Some wind gusts could be up to 17 miles per hour, according to AccuWeather. The chance of precipitation and thunderstorms is low. AccuWeather says there's a 1% probability of precipitation and 0% probability of thunderstorms. Those outlooks - if they hold - are a stark improvement over last year's weather at the Indianapolis 500. That morning, lightning started moving toward the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, causing officials to pause its pre-race ceremonies and move fans out of the grandstands and the Snake Pit. Police encouraged fans to seek shelter in their vehicles. Strong winds and severe thunderstorms caused more issues. Spectators were allowed to return to the grandstands at IMS that afternoon, with the weather finally allowing the race to take place. Leading up to the Indy 500, there might be some rain and thunderstorms this week during Indy 500 lead-up events. There's a good chance of showers and possible thunderstorms on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service forecast for Indianapolis. The weather is supposed to clear up Thursday, with precipitation chances falling. Friday is supposed to be mostly sunny with a high near 67 degrees, a likely reprieve from the rain on Carb Day. Saturday, known as Legends Day, is also expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 70 degrees, according to the NWS.
