I visited the UK's first Legoland music festival with live gigs and a Lego sushi bar

Plus, two other music festivals perfect for families this summer BUILT IT UP I visited the UK's first Legoland music festival with live gigs and a Lego sushi bar Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) IF the idea of taking kids along to a summer festival sounds too much like hard-work, then Legoland Windsor may have the answer. I tried out the first ever 'Lego Festival', at the Windsor resort with my three children Henry, 11, Nicholas, 7, and Estella 3 and they loved it. This means that the next couple of weeks is a great time to visit Legoland Windsor to get more value from your ticket. The festival is scattered throughout the whole park across five distinct zones, offering shows, music, activities and of course plenty of hands-on brick modelling. Young visitors are even issued festival-style lanyards when they enter the park to really make them feel part of the action. As they make their way through the various zones completing activities they receive a stamp at every spot. A prize awaits for those who complete their stamp card. The 'Music Zone' located in the centre of the park's Heartlake City area plays home to a vibrant 'Battle of the Bands' show where kids can rock out to a group made-up of mini-figures characters brought to life. After all that high-energy performance, the nearby 'Chill Out Zone' was a perfect place for the kids to take five. Decorated with walls of flowers, in the 'Chill Out Zone' kids can build pretty brick blooms from Lego botanical kits. Elsewhere in the park, near 'Miniland', where famous global landmarks are recreated from almost out of 40 million Lego Bricks lay the 'Dance Zone.' My little one especially loved having a boogie when a giant costumed Lego minifigure 'DJ Goodvibes' spun some tunes. Legoland Windsor opens brand new Woodland Village 6 Kids are encouraged to make their own Lego creations Credit: Caroline Iggulden In the nearby 'Creative Zone', Lego mosaic building was on offer in this zone, as well as cookie decoration at an additional charge. In this area kids can also watch virtual workshops from Lego masterbuilder Alec, who has a huge following on YouTube. The 'Gaming Zone' offered kids to add their own contributions to a huge Lego recreation of the Lost Isle from the popular Lego Fortnite game. There is also a quirky Lego sushi bar where children can build Lego versions of the fishy snack. Every zone features a huge new, mini-figure creation-the 'Cuddle Team Leader' from Lego Fortnite is recreated using an astonishing 21,000 bricks. And if you are lucky, costumed versions of the mini-figure characters pop up throughout the day at the zones to say hello. 6 Caroline's youngest Estella loved the gentle rides around the park Credit: Caroline Iggulden 6 There are more thrilling rides too including the Pirate Falls log flume Credit: Caroline Iggulden Lego Festival is running in the lead up to World Play Day on June 11, which celebrates the importance of play to kids' development. As well as all of the festival fun, all of the Windsor resorts usual rides and attractions are open as normal. My three did all their favourites including putting out a fire in Lego City, riding in a hot air balloon and riding The Dragon rollercoaster. Legoland is always great for all ages because there is such a great mix of attractions. Whilst there are more thrilling rides for my older sons there are lots of gentle rides-such as the Fairy Tale Brook boat ride my youngest loves as you meander through gentle water ways following a re-telling classic stories like Cinderella and Hansel and Gretal with a Lego twist. By the end of their festival adventure, my three were so tired they might as well have been to Glastonbury, although they were decidedly less muddy. One Sun Travel Reporter visited the world-first Disney music festival in Europe - it has its own anthem and lots of musical attractions. And this festival has been dubbed the 'pint-sized Glastonbury' that's great for first-timers.

Lego just dropped new Fortnite sets, and this one will let you build the best event of Chapter 1 at home

Lego has four new Fortnite sets coming soon The Mecha Team Leader set lands on August 1 There are three smaller Fortnite sets dropping on June 1 Lego is continuing its gaming collabs with four brand-new Fortnite sets – with the clear best of the bunch being a 2,503-piece recreation of the Mecha Team Leader. Long-time Fortnite fans will recognise this Power Rangers Megazord-esque titan from arguably the best live event of Chapter 1, The Final Showdown, which saw the Mecha Team leader face off against the monster of Polar Peak. And now you can recreate that clash yourself in real life (though you'll need to provide your own stand-in for the thawed monster). The set does sit on the pricier end of things – it'll cost $249.99 / £209.99 from when it releases on August 1, 2025 – but once complete, the finished design will stand just over 45cm / 17.5-inches tall. (Image credit: Future / Lego / Fortnite) You'll also get a minifigure version of the Mecha Team Leader (complete with a sign showing support for its mech), as well as digital bonus items: 2 Mecha Team Leader and 2 Mecha Team Shadow Outfits, which are redeemable in Fortnite and Lego Fortnite . Just remember to be a bit more careful than its monstrous foe when removing your creation's left arm if you try to recreate the robot's iconic No Sweat emote. Where we buildin' boys? (Image credit: Lego / Epic Games) If you're after sets that are a little cheaper – and releasing sooner – the other three have you covered. You'll also get a Sparkplug minifigure alongside a redeemable code for a Sparkplug Outfit for the Lego Fortnite game. Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more. Next is the Durrr Burger Restaurant – a familiar in-game location that you can build IRL with this 546-piece set for $64.99 / £54.99. Alongside the restaurant's storefront and some decoration, you'll get a few minifigs, including the Beach Bomber and Beef Boss, as well as a redeemable code to get a bonus Beef Boss Outfit in Lego Fortnite . (Image credit: Lego / Epic Games) Lastly, you've got a set that might appeal to non-Fontite players in the $109.99 / £89.99, 1,084-piece Klombo set. I say that it might have more general appeal because Klombo's design is that of a terrifying yet cute dinosaur-like beast that your minifigures can ride around. You'll also get the awesome-looking Oro minifigure for a duo that would be right at home in a bunch of different non- Fortnite Lego worlds. Though Fortnite fans will still appreciate this build. Not only for the Klombo and Oro figures, but also the Island Adventure Peely minifig that they can also unlock in the Lego Fortnite game using a code. All three of these sets are available on starting June 1 and could make the perfect gift for any Fortnite and LEGO fans you know. You might also like

New Lego Fortnite sets feature Klombo and Mecha Team Leader

The most expensive Lego Fortnite set yet has been revealed but it and three others all come with QR codes to unlock in-game skins. Video games are suddenly big business again when it comes to Hollywood but they're also increasingly more mainstream in other areas, including the world's most popular toy brand: Lego. A new Pokémon line was recently announced for next year, to go alongside Super Mario, Zelda, and Animal Crossing sets, but Nintendo is not the only publisher that Lego has teamed up with. Everyone from Sony to Sega to Atari has had sets made of their various games but it's only recently that Fortnite has been added to the list. That's surprising given there's a whole Lego-themed game mode now, but with these four new sets they're making up for lost time. The previous four sets were an impressively varied and imaginative bunch, with a pleasingly cheap (for Lego) Battle Bus set with a ton of minifigures. That was the obvious thing to do but there's also a giant statue of Peely Bone, a Supply Llama, and a wallet friendly Durrr Burger model. The new wave is equally varied and starts with two relatively straightforward playsets. This is the cheapest and is based on the Lego Odyssey survival mode from the game. You get minifigures of Peely and Sparkplug, plus a skeleton, a supply llama, and a brick-built wolf. There's also a campfire and a workbench, plus the ability to scan the QR code on the building instructions to get a Sparkplug outfit you can use in the game. This playset is a bit bigger and includes a detailed interior, with a drinks machine and a cash register, plus a seating area and a sign featuring the drive-thru menu. There's four minifigures this time, with Beach Bomber, Beef Boss, Grimey, and a skeleton. The QR code unlocks a Beef Boss outfit in the game. The whole thing is 27cm tall, including the Durrr Burger mascot on the roof, so it's bigger than it looks. Fortnite or not, this six-legged monster is a cool bit of a Lego design. He's got moveable limbs, an opening mouth, and rotating tail, plus you can feed him Klomberries from a buildable Komberry bush. More Trending You also get two minifigures, of Island Adventure Peely and Oro, who can sit on Klombo's back if you want them to (or feed them into his mouth, if you'd prefer). The QR code is for an Island Adventure Peely costume in the game. The biggest and most expensive Fortnite set is also just a really neat bit of Lego. It's a 45cm tall model of the giant robot that saved Battle Royale Chapter 1 Island in the game, which looks like a Care Bears version of Voltron. As the price implies, this one is aimed more at adults than kids, as it's got an 18+ age rating for the difficulty of building it. It's made up of 2,503 Lego pieces and is fully poseable, including with the sword accessory. You've also got a separate minifigure that can act as the driver in the chest cockpit. This set has multiple QR codes to make use of, for Mecha Team Leader and Mecha Team Shadow outfits. The Peely & Sparkplug's Camp, Durrr Burger Restaurant, and Klombo sets will be available from June 1. The Mecha Team Leader set won't be out until August 1, but you can pre-order it now from the Lego website.
