New Lego Batman game will be revealed at Gamescom claims rumour
Batman will receive the Skywalker Saga treatment in his next Lego game according to rumours, and it sounds like it's out this year. It's been three years since Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and while other licensed titles like Lego Fortnite and Lego Horizon Adventures have been released since, there hasn't been any word on a true successor. Developed by Traveller's Tales, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga adapted all nine mainline Star Wars films into one game, with fully explorable planets. It was more expansive and ambitious than previous Lego games, and clearly more time was spent on it than previous games. Past rumours have suggested Harry Potter was next in line for the Skywalker Saga treatment, which did seem to make logical sense, but now an insider claims Batman has usurped the boy wizard as the next major title from the studio. This rumour, which originally popped up last month, via Lego Games News on X, claimed the next Lego game from Traveller's Tales is a 'movie based Batman title that will span multiple movies across the Caped Crusader's career'. It's said the untitled project will be revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19, 2025, before it comes out in 'Q1 2026'. The same account has since posted an update on several other rumoured Lego projects, claiming a Lego Disney and a Guardians Of The Galaxy title have both been cancelled. Meanwhile, the aforementioned Harry Potter Skywalker Saga-style project was apparently in the 'pitch stage' but 'never went past it'. (RUMOR) The next LEGO Game by TT Games is heavily rumored to be a Movie Based Batman title that will span multiple movies across the Caped Crusader's career. It is reported to potentially be revealed next month at Gamescom ONL on August 19th. Release: Q1 2026 — LEGO Games News (@LEGOTtNewsI) July 21, 2025 There's little information on the Lego Batman title but, as it's based on the movies, it's said it will be 'not connected' to the prior trilogy of games which had their own original stories. That trilogy concluded with 2014's Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, which turned into more of a general DC Comics crossover. There have been actual Lego sets based on everything from The Animated Series and the classic 60s TV show starring Adam West, to the Nolan movies and recently a new one for Batman Forever. More Trending Considering the amount of work that went into the Skywalker Saga it seems reasonable to imagine the 60s movie spin-off, Batman '89, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Batman v Superman, and The Batman will all be featured. A Lego Batman game based on the movies could go meta too, via 2017's The Lego Batman Movie, so maybe Will Arnett will make a voice cameo in some capacity. We'd also hope for some nods towards Mask of the Phantasm, if not a full adapation. As ever with rumours, it's worth taking this with a pinch of salt, but it certainly sounds like a good excuse to make a new Batman game, without going over all ground. If you're craving a Lego game for the near future, the Mario Party-inspired Lego Party is set to launch on September 30, 2025 across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Get Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga free but you have to be quick
One of the best Star Wars games of recent years is free on PC for a limited time, but you'll have to act fast. There have been dozens of great Star Wars video games over the years, and the Lego spins on a galaxy far, far away are amongst the best. The pinnacle of these is Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which applies the classic Lego game formula to all nine mainline movies, while revamping the combat and allowing players to freely explore a wealth of planets. If you haven't yet played this grand celebration of Star Wars, the game is currently free on PC for 24 hours. To celebrate May 4, aka Star Wars Day, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is available for free through the Epic Games Store until Monday, May 5 at 4pm BST in the UK. So if you're reading this on Tuesday you're out of luck. The game is usually priced at £39.99 (although it's cheaper elsewhere if you buy a physical copy), so it's a pretty massive saving overall. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is developed by Traveller's Tales, who made most of the Lego games. The studio is rumoured to be working on another Lego game which could launch in 2026, with all signs pointing towards a Harry Potter title. More Trending If you're looking to continue the Star Wars celebrations, Fortnite is currently hosting a special Galactic Battle event, where you can fly X-Wings and TIE fighters, or give Emperor Palpatine an assault rifle. Elsewhere, developer Asypyr has also released Star Wars: Grand Collection on Nintendo Switch, which brings together nine Star Wars games into one bundle. On Switch, this bundle includes Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Republic Commando, Episode 1 Racer, The Force Unleashed, Bounty Hunter, Jedi Power Battles, Knights Of The Old Republic, and Knights Of The Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords. It usually costs a whopping £125.99 altogether, but there's a 50% off deal until Saturday, May 10, so it's currently priced at £62.99. This collection is available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 too but without Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Knights Of The Old Republic, and Knights Of The Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords. This is priced at £73.99, but is currently 50% off at £36.99 for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter, and sign-up to our newsletter. Lego is building an in-house video game development team
Lego has a long history in the video games sector between licensed titles that feature digital brick versions of iconic movie characters and physical sets like the new Mario Kart one. But after decades of third-party studios making games with the Lego name on them, the company is taking more of a hands-on approach. 'We can definitely say as long as we're under the Lego brand we can cover experiences for kids of all ages, digital or physical, Lego CEO Niels Christiansen told the Financial Times. To that end, an in-house game development division "is something we're building up." Per the publication, Lego plowed hundreds of millions of dollars into tripling its number of software developers to more than 1,800. 'We have made quite a few investments in the future — I'd almost rather overinvest. That's the benefit of being family-owned and long term,' Christiansen said. It's unclear if Lego plans to stop working with external developers. That would be a risky move considering the equity that Lego games made by third-party studios have accumulated over the last couple of decades, given the likes of Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures and the terrific Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. There have been a string of non-licensed games that have been good-to-great as well — for instance, I enjoyed Lego 2K Drive for the most part. Meanwhile, Lego Fortnite (bolstered by the main game's enormous popularity) has pulled in 87 million players. Making video games is tough and Lego's game development team will have to nail the right mix of fun gameplay and the brand's trademark humor. Still, Lego can afford to take a swing at this point. The company outsourced things like game development and its theme parks while it was on the brink of bankruptcy two decades ago, but its core toy business has rebounded significantly. Lego reported on Tuesday that its revenue grew by 13 percent in 2024 to DKK 74.3 billion ($10.9 billion) — nearly double what it pulled in five years previously — while its operating profit jumped up by 10 per cent to DKK 18.7 billion ($2.7 billion). Along with building up its gaming business, the company has bought back its Legoland theme parks as it again tries to diversify beyond its physical brick business.
