Notre Dame football cornerback Leonard Moore named to Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list
Notre Dame football cornerback Leonard Moore named to Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore has been named to the 2025 Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list. The 2025 Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list was released Wednesday, with Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore being listed as one of 42 candidates. At a luncheon at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach, Moore was mentioned as a candidate for the prestigious defensive award that considers character on and off the field. The trophy is named after NFL Hall of Famer and former USC Trojan Ronnie Lott. The sophomore started 10 games last season, with his starting debut coming in late September when Christian Gray was injured. Moore was an integral piece for the Fighting Irish through their College Football Playoff run, becoming one of the team's best defenders. Additionally, he was the Football Writers Association of America freshman defensive player of the year, finishing with 48 tackles, 2 interceptions, 11 passes defended and 2 forced fumbles. The Lott IMPACT Trophy annually goes to college football's top defensive player who has had the biggest impact on his team both on and off the field. The watch list is comprised of 16 defensive linemen, 13 linebackers and 13 defensive backs. The acronym IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity. The award winner will be announced in December and is selected by a panel comprised of former winners, media, coaches, and members of the Board of Directors of The IMPACT Foundation.

Two Notre Dame players get preseason All-American honor
Notre Dame has two players on Pro Football Focus' pre-season 2025 All-American team. Perhaps unsurprisingly, they are running back Jeremiyah Love and cornerback Leonard Moore. Love rushed for a touchdown in every single game last season for the Fighting Irish, setting a school record. He finished with 1,125 yards, 17 rushing touchdowns, and two receiving touchdowns. He had 6.9 yards per carry. PFF ranked him the second most-valuable running back in the nation last year and his PFF grade was fifth. Advertisement Moore had 48 tackles -- 34 solo -- and two interceptions and two forced fumbles while replacing the injured Benjamin Morrison, who is now in the NFL. PFF ranked Moore the third-best cornerback in college football. Both players were key to Notre Dame's run to the National Championship game, and both will be counted on to help the Irish return to that game -- and perhaps win it this time. Notre Dame offensive star gets another preseason honor
Notre Dame Fighting Irish running back Jeremiyah Love has earned yet another preseason honor. A few weeks after he and cornerback Leonard Moore were named to Pro Football Focus' preseason All-American list, Love has now been named a preseason All-American by Athlon Sports. Advertisement Love ran for 1,125 yards and 17 touchdowns last season, and he caught 28 passes for 237 yards and two receiving touchdowns. Those numbers have set expectations for 2025 -- analysts and pundits expect Love to be even better. Considering how much damage Love did to opposing defenses last year, a leap forward would be huge for the Irish. Notre Dame football has one player selected in the first-round of PFF's all-class draft
Notre Dame football has one player selected in the first-round of PFF's all-class draft An in interesting concept, Pro Football Focus created an all-class draft if everyone was eligible, and one Notre Dame football star made it into the first round. Cornerback Leonard Moore is coming off a season where he was nationally recognized, and it looks like the Irish will have yet another defensive back getting selected early in the draft. Max Chadwick and Dalton Wasserman complied the list, which had the Notre Dame star as the No. 24 player off the board. Moore had already been named as the top returning cornerback in college by PFF, and now this honor puts him among the nation's elite. He finished third among its Wins Above Average metric, trailing only Texas' Jahdae Barron and Colorado's Travis Hunter. It's great company to be in, as both of them are expected to be early selections in this coming draft. The potential for Moore is off the charts, as he could be one of the most decorated Notre Dame defensive backs ever if he continues his current path. It's safe to say the Irish have yet another lock-down corner for the next two seasons.
