Man found unconscious in car with loaded illegal firearm in Northeast Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man is facing charges after he was found unconscious in his car in the middle of a Northeast Portland street with a loaded illegal firearm in his lap early Saturday morning.
Just before 5 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Northeast Sandy Boulevard and 82nd Avenue on reports of a person passed out in a vehicle.
Arriving at the scene, police said they found a man slumped over in the driver's seat and the vehicle running.

While they were approaching the car, officers saw a firearm with an extended magazine in the man's lap, authorities said.
Police requested backup and developed a tactical plan to deescalate the situation, eventually taking the man into custody.
A loaded firearm was also seized from the vehicle and the car was towed.
Leonardo Gomez-Hernandez, 20, was booked on charges of unlawful possession of firearms and unlawful possession of a loaded firearm in public.
