Cops say inquiries remain ongoing.
Investigations have so far established that four individuals, all dressed in dark clothing, were seen fleeing the area and heading towards Shettleston Road and then onto Wellshot Road.
Officers earlier appealed to anybody who may have witnessed the group to come forward.
Detective Inspector Lesley-Ann McGee, from Shettleston CID, said: "This was a violent attack that left a teenage boy with serious injuries, and we are doing everything we can to trace those responsible.
"I would urge anyone who saw what happened or noticed anything suspicious in the area to get in touch with police as soon as possible.
"We're also keen to speak to anyone who may have private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage from Denbeck Street, Shettleston Road, Wellshot Road or the surrounding areas on Thursday night.
"Any information, no matter how small, could help us as we continue our enquiries."
Chief Inspector Ross Aitken, Area Commander for Shettleston and Easterhouse, said: "We recognise that this incident will be concerning to the local community.
"At this time, we believe it was a targeted attack and there is no information to suggest any wider risk to the public.
"There will be additional patrols in the area over the coming days to provide reassurance and support the ongoing inquiry.
"I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to our officers."
