Construction of Egypt's Kom Ombo 500-MW solar power plant completed

CAIRO - 29 May 2025: Construction of the 500-megawatt Kom Ombo solar power plant project in Egypt has been completed, Chinese Ambassador to Cairo Liao Liqiang announced Thursday. Kom Ombo solar power plant is the largest solar photovoltaic plant of its kind in Egypt, built by China Energy Construction and marking an important step towards promoting renewable energy. The ambassador added on X that the Kom Ombo solar power plant project has an installed direct current generation capacity of 560 megawatts and includes more than one million photovoltaic panels, in addition to a 220 kilovolt (kV) booster station. He also said the project is expected to provide clean, green, and stable electricity to some 256,000 Egyptian households annually once it is officially operational. Liqiang emphasized that this station will significantly contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 760,000 tons annually, which will provide strong momentum for Egypt toward achieving the green development goals of Vision 2030. He explained that this is not just the implementation of an energy project, but also represents a model for Chinese-Egyptian cooperation to create a green future. China will continue to leverage its comprehensive advantages across the entire industrial chain, deeply participating in the investment and construction of photovoltaic, wind, energy storage, hydrogen, and gas turbine fields in Egypt, he said, as well as assisting in the transformation and upgrading of Egypt's energy structure.

Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang - file CAIRO - 22 April 2025: Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang announced that China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (TEDA) has recently achieved significant momentum on the financial level as first loan in renminbi worth 220 million yuan has been successfully disbursed to bank roll expansion work of second phase of the zone. The Japanese ambassador said in a tweet on X Tuesday: China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone has succeeded in attracting 185 companies, with total investments exceeding dlrs 3 billion and sales value exceeding dlrs 5.3 billion, while tax payments amounted to about dlrs 300 million and provided nearly 10,000 direct job opportunities. Liao added the area is currently an exemplary leading model of successful industrial cooperation between Egypt and China.

Nada Mustafa Chinese Ambassador to Cairo, Liao Liqiang, announced that China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone has recently achieved a major financial breakthrough with the successful disbursement of its first loan in renminbi, valued at 220 million yuan. The loan will finance the expansion of the zone's second phase. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) today, the ambassador highlighted the zone's impressive performance, noting that it has successfully attracted 185 companies with total investments exceeding $3 billion. The zone has recorded sales of more than $5.3 billion, paid around $300 million in taxes, and generated nearly 10,000 direct job opportunities. China Renews Strong Support for Two-State Solution

Beijing - (Saba): The People's Republic of China renewed its strong support for the two-state solution as the only realistic path to end the Zionist-Palestinian conflict. The New China News Agency (Xinhua) quoted today, Wednesday, the Chinese Ambassador to Egypt and the Arab League Liao Liqiang, calling in a speech he delivered at the fourth meeting of the Global Alliance for the Two-State Solution, held in Cairo, for the international community to work vigorously to fully implement the ceasefire agreement. He also expressed his deep concern over the situation in the Gaza Strip.
