Niko Bellic deserves a comeback in GTA 6: 5 reasons that prove it

Source: Rockstar Games As Rockstar prepares to launch GTA 6, fans are abuzz with speculations about future characters and plots. Amidst the speculations, one name keeps cropping up: Niko Bellic, the legendary hero of GTA IV. Despite his seeming finality, there are good reasons why reviving Niko, either as a protagonist, advisor, or guest star, can add GTA 6's storytelling richness and fan engagement in thrilling ways. 1. Niko's narrative had loose ends to tie While GTA IV wrapped up much of Niko's personal arc, questions remain about his life after Liberty City. GTA 6 could explore how his past shaped him further or show his impact on the criminal world. This continuity would reward longtime fans and deepen the series' lore. 2. He brings a depth of feeling to GTA 6's narrative GTA games tend to balance destruction with instances of somber narration. Niko's down-to-earth, tormented personality would add emotional depth to GTA 6, particularly if the game explores subjects such as loyalty, redemption, or violence consequences. 3. His Eastern European origins comply with recent GTA 6 speculations Rumors also indicate that portions of GTA 6 will feature multicultural cultures and international crime syndicates. Niko's Eastern European heritage could easily fit into that environment, introducing new opportunities for storytelling and gameplay with real, complex characters. 4. Fans demand nostalgia with new twists Nostalgia runs deep, and Niko is still one of the GTA protagonists most adored. A nicely written comeback, as a friend or antagonist, would thrill audiences while enabling Rockstar to add new spins and conflicts to suit contemporary sensibilities. 5. He might mentor or challenge new protagonists GTA 6 will include several playable characters. Niko's experience and cynicism would make him an ideal mentor character or a nuanced antagonist, providing rich interactions and deepening the game's character-based storyline. Niko Bellic's return in GTA 6 is not merely a fan service, it's a chance to infuse narrative substance, emotional depth, and continuity into the series. Whether he plays a big part or a quiet cameo, Niko's inclusion would remind the playerbase why he is still one of the most memorable and relatable characters in GTA. Rockstar can seize the moment to mix the old and new and craft an enhanced, richer GTA universe for all. Also Read: No GTA 6 on Xbox store yet – Is PlayStation taking the lead?

5 reasons why Vice City is the perfect setting for GTA 6

Source: Rockstar Games Vice City returns, but not as you recall. Rockstar is remaking its classical sun-kissed playground for the modern age, and it's not all just nostalgia. From enhanced graphics to fresh environmental mechanics, Vice City in GTA 6 is looking more like a remake than a retrograde. Here are five strong reasons why this location is the perfect choice for the next installment of the series. 1. Next-gen graphics make Vice City pop Source: Rockstar Games Thanks to the muscle of next-gen hardware, GTA 6's Vice City is set to look amazing. The glow of neon lights on wet streets, the more natural feel of character animations, and the added immersion of every palm tree and beach ripple all contribute. It's a visual enhancement that makes the environment feel both movie-like and realistic, so players can imagine that they are strolling through a legitimate, living city. 2. Nostalgia lands differently in HD Source: Rockstar Games Coming back to Vice City is an exercise in tapping into something strong, memory. For veteran players, the city brings back the pastel-colored suits, synth-laden soundtracks, and frenetic missions of GTA: Vice City. But this isn't a simple remaster, it's a complete reimagining. Rockstar knows precisely how to turn nostalgia into something new and deliver both comfort and surprise to old and new players alike. 3. Dynamic weather adds to the chaos Source: Rockstar Games Florida is notorious for storms and hurricanes out of nowhere, and GTA 6 lives up to that volatility. Vice City's new weather system introduces game effects, flooded roads, changing visibility, and gusty winds that will make a routine drive complete chaos. These sequences won't be merely aesthetic; they'll test how players navigate missions and getting around. 4. Special wildlife and geography Source: Rockstar Games Swamps, coastlines, open water, Vice City's environments around it bring forth terrain and creatures never before encountered in the series. Dodging alligators in the Everglades, or racing down coastal roads, the environment brings depth and hazard to discovery. Not just metropolitan chaos, its nature fighting back. 5. The nightlife is alive and electric Source: Rockstar Games Vice City's legendary nightlife returns with a modern twist. Clubs pulse with activity, streets glow after dark, and characters weave in and out of hotspots. Whether you're doing a late-night deal or simply soaking in the atmosphere, the city doesn't sleep, and neither will you. Vice City is not just a background, it's a declaration. With breathtaking scenery, environmental dangers, and a blend of new and vintage, Rockstar's transformed city could be GTA 6's most engaging character. 'Grand Theft Auto IV' Remaster Reportedly Hitting The Streets Later This Year

Grand Theft Auto VI might have been delayed to May next year, but new rumours suggest that Rockstar Games is gearing up for a remastered port of 2008's Grand Theft Auto IV , and that it could be released as early as this year. The latest rumours come from known Rockstar insider Tez2, who wrote on the GTA forums that someone at the studio had 'hinted' at a GTA 4 port. 'By now it should've gone up a year in development,' the insider added, 'We may end up seeing it drop later this year.' According to Tez2, the port was one of the reasons why Rockstar took down the Liberty City Preservation Project earlier this year, a fan-made mod which would have added a playable version of GTA 4's map into GTA 5 . The insider also hinted that a port of 2012's Max Payne 3 was also in the works, and would release after the GTA 4 remaster, writing that 'If [Rockstar follows] their plan laid out from the pandemic days, they'll do an MP3 port after IV . So that is an opportunity to do a bundle or a Definitive Edition. Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes, and a Max Payne 3 port.' As always, these rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt, although they do make sense considering Grand Theft Auto IV is set in Liberty City, which is also where Grand Theft Auto VI protagonist Lucia Caminos is from, so releasing a port before release not only serves as a good way to tide fans over while they wait, but also introduce some links between the two games. For now, all fans can do is wait for official confirmation from Rockstar on the rumoured remaster. In the meantime, its next mainline entry, Grand Theft Auto VI , is due out on 26 May 2026 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and has recently received its second trailer alongside more details on its characters and world. GTA 6's new trailer has a blink-and-you'll-miss-it reference to Red Dead Redemption 2, further proving they're set in the same universe

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. There's a split-second reference to Red Dead Redemption 2 hiding out in the new GTA 6 trailer, somewhat unsurprisingly. Rockstar Games has been tucking clues and Easter Eggs in its open-world games for decades, and over the years, it's become increasingly obvious that its cowboy romps (Red Dead) are set a few decades before its modern crime fest satires (Grand Theft Auto). In the new GTA 6 trailer, if you zoom in on any of the scenes set in a strip club - for research purposes, of course - you'll be able to spot President Thaddeus Waxman's (RIP) face and permanently frowning moustache printed on all the flying dollar bills. And if you were bored enough to flick through all the newspapers in Red Dead Redemption 2, you might remember that Waxman led the country during the events of the game, starting in 1899. This isn't the first connecting glue between the two series, either. GTA 5's world has tons of 'Red Dead' books on various bookshelves written by a certain 'J. Marston,' and that's without mentioning all the sasquatch shenanigans littered across both. Over the years, some fans have pointed out that Red Dead has a knack for name-dropping real-life places, like New York and San Francisco, instead of GTA's fictionalized versions, like Liberty City and San Andreas, potentially disproving the shared universe theory. But this article kind of sent me down an endless rabbit hole of useless Rockstar Games facts. For one, did you know that GTA 4 directly names the state of Florida, too? That would mean GTA 6's state of Leonida exists alongside Florida, it's not just a satirical stand-in. The same thing happens in Red Dead Redemption 2, as well, since the game's take on the Rockies is called the Grizzlies, but the Rocky Mountains are also explicitly named in the same reality. Rockstar has a habit of adding ever so slightly wilder versions of real-life places to the USA, rather than simply replacing them. So, this seems like a shut case. GTA and Red Dead Redemption more than likely exist in the same timeline, and the newest trailer only adds more fuel to the fire. Let's hope my theory doesn't completely fall apart when GTA 6 drops on May 26, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. 85 new GTA 6 screenshots and images drop alongside new trailer, providing an in-depth tour of Vice City and all its surrounding locations

The ‘GTA 6' Trailer Has Secret Connections To ‘Red Dead Redemption'

GTA 6/RDR 2 Well, we knew that fans would be pouring over every inch of the GTA 6 trailer, given that it's the first one that we've seen in a year and a half, and probably the last one we'll see in close to a year before the game comes out after its recent delay to May of 2026. Fans have spotted more than GTA 6 clues (a map with two islands?) but rather some details that connect all the way back to Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption series. There are two main ones fans have found in the three minute spot, and one questionable one. The idea here is that the two games take place in the same universe but it's a bit of a stretch to say that with these Easter Eggs alone. One of the key pieces of evidence against that theory is that Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game that refers to real-life cities, ie. New York is not Liberty City, and a theory that 'they were just renamed eventually" seems implausible. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Second, there is effectively no way anything sort of descendant storyline is meant to be official or part of the story here. I don't even think the alleged appearance thing is a real Easter Egg. The other things, the money, the gun brand, are, but I think everyone is reading too much into things to say these are literal shared universes. Red Dead This is also not the first time the series has done this, as there were also many references to Red Dead in GTA 5, like a book written by 'J. Marston.' You can also select that name as a father for your GTA Online character. There are some shared name locations like Armadillo and Cholla Spring, streets named after locations in Red Dead. MacFarlane's Ranch exists in the GTA world. Madame Nazar is a fortune-telling arcade game. There are a decent number of these, and I expect there will be more in GTA 6 once the game is more than a trailer. This is just…a fun little thing. I don't think the intention here is to literally make a shared universe, as that would never actually come up in a real storyline and it's not like there's going to be a side mission where Jason signs up for 23 and Me to trace his DNA back to Morgan. But it's neat to see all the same, and you can look for more next year. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram.
