QIB, INJAZ Qatar reach over 27,000 students with Life Skills Program
Tribune News Network Doha Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), Qatar's leading digital bank, in collaboration with INJAZ Qatar, a leading non-profit organization focused on youth economic empowerment, has successfully concluded the 2024/25 cycle of the nationwide Life Skills Program, impacting over 27,000 students across 71 schools. Over the course of the year, more than 180 teachers were trained and deployed to deliver the programmes in classrooms. The sessions were integrated into the academic calendar, allowing students to benefit from structured, interactive content across 12 teaching hours. This three-year programme, developed under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education was designed to equip Grade 7 and Grade 9 students with the skills they need to succeed in both their academic and professional lives. The life skills for preparatory students project is comprised of two distinct programs tailored to each grade level. The 'It's My Business' programme for Grade 7 students has introduced design thinking as a problem-solving approach and offered a hands-on entrepreneurial experience, guiding students through identifying market needs, proposing solutions, and exploring how to launch a business idea. Meanwhile, the 'It's My Future' programme for Grade 9 students focused on career readiness, helping them build a personal brand, explore job opportunities, write resumes, and develop the skills and behaviours needed to succeed in the job market. Commenting on the success of the first year's program, Mashaal Abdulaziz Al Derham, assistant general manager, head of corporate communications and quality assurance at QIB, said: 'We are pleased to see the strong results of our collaboration with INJAZ Qatar. This programme represents our long-term commitment to supporting the youth of Qatar through practical, forward-thinking education. 'By focusing on life and financial skills at the preparatory level, we are contributing to the development of confident, capable individuals who are ready to shape their own futures. This initiative aligns with QIB's social responsibility framework and supports the broader goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.' INJAZ Qatar CEO Emad Al Khaja said, 'We are happy to continue our successful collaboration with QIB. Together, we are building an ecosystem of learning that extends beyond the classroom and prepares young students to make informed life and career choices. This collaboration remains a strong model for impactful educational outreach in the region.' Electrical association donates RM3,000 in equipment to support life skills training for Sibu's underprivileged

SIBU (May 9): The Central Sarawak Zone Electrical and Electronics Sales and Services Association has donated electrical equipment worth RM3,000 to support the Life Skills Programme, run by Destiny for Children (DFC) Sibu. The contribution, channelled under the association's Charity 5.0 initiative, will be used to equip the cooking and baking stations under the programme, which aims to provide basic life skills training for underprivileged children. Speaking on behalf of the association, Councillor Michelle Law said the donation reflected their commitment to supporting those in need within the community. 'As a society, we face a choice – to either ignore or support and assist them. 'We choose to support and assist them after learning about the extraordinary efforts carried out by Destiny for Children Sibu. 'Our committee felt compelled to sponsor part of the Life Skills Program by donating cooking and baking equipment worth RM3,000,' she said in a statement today. Law handed over the contribution to DFC director and principal Pauline Rogers Jaban, witnessed by Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak Datuk Michael Tiang, and Central Sarawak Zone Electrical and Electronics Sales and Services Association chairman Lau Wang Mee. According to Law, the donation is not merely about providing equipment, but an investment in building the children's self-confidence, independent living skills, and opening doors to brighter futures. 'Through this programme, the children are not only learning essential life skills but are also exposed to potential career pathways and personal empowerment.' Meanwhile, Tiang, in his speech, described the DFC education centre as 'a beacon of hope' for children who had fallen through the cracks of the mainstream education system. He praised the centre's role in providing education to undocumented children, school dropouts, and non-citizens.
