Aubrey Anderson-Emmons doesn't look like this anymore! Modern Family's Lily is unrecognisable on Australian TV show

Aubrey Anderson-Emmons stunned Channel Seven viewers on Friday morning when she looked almost unrecognisable during a TV interview. The actress, 18, first won hearts as Lily Tucker-Pritchett on the long-running US comedy series Modern Family. Making her TV debut on the show at age four in 2009, Aubrey said her 10 years filming the series was 'wonderful'. 'All the adults around me were supportive and lovely,' she continued. Aubrey also revealed she had recently spent time re-watching the show because she could not remember filming certain episodes, as she was so young. Elsewhere in the chat, Aubrey revealed the real reason she chose to use Frances Anderson as a stage name for her music career. 'People know me as [the character of] Lily, so I just wanted to start afresh,' she confessed. However, she also explained Frances Anderson is part of her legal name and she wanted to shorten it. 'I have a very long name—Aubrey Frances Anderson-Emmons,' she said with a laugh. During the chat, Aubrey said she had always loved music. 'My mum is a musician and a classically trained singer, and my grandpa's also a piano player and a singer. So I guess it kind of runs in the family.' She had fans doing a double take on The Morning Show when she looked all grown up, rocking a brand new look following her days on the cult hit She said her new music was partly inspired by her 11 seasons on Modern Family as well as 'what happened after' the show ended in 2020. Her EP Drown comes after her well-received first single, the electropop song Telephones and Traffic, which dropped in May. During its run, Modern Family won 22 Emmys, and was a critics' darling and a ratings hit. Aubrey's Lily, who in the show is the adopted daughter of Mitchell Pritchett and Cameron Tucker, became a fan favourite for her unfiltered and hilarious outbursts. Modern Family is currently streaming on Disney+.

"Happy Pride Month to all," the actress-singer wrote on Modern Family child star Aubrey Anderson-Emmons has come out as bisexual with a sweet nod to her sitcom roots. The 18-year-old actress-singer shared the announcement Monday to Instagram, in a video that used audio from a Modern Family scene where her character, Lily Tucker-Pritchett — the adopted daughter of gay couple Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) — insisting "No I'm not, I'm gay," in response to Gloria (Sofia Vergara) telling her that she's Vietnamese. "People keep joking so much abt [sic] me being gay when I literally am (I'm bi)," Anderson-Emmons wrote in text that appears over the footage of herself lip-syncing the sitcom's lines. In the video's caption, Anderson-Emmons added, "happy pride month to all and to all a goodnight hehehe" and used the hashtag #bi, among several others. Anderson-Emmons landed her breakout role in Modern Family beginning with season 3, and she portrayed the character of Lily until the show's final edition, season 11, in 2020. At age 4, she took over for Ella and Jaden Hiller, who previously played Lily as a baby. Since the show ended, Anderson-Emmons has updated her followers with regular life developments online, including in a 2024 post she shared ahead of attending her high school prom. In a "Get Ready With Me" TikTok post last year, Anderson-Emmons, who hasn't appeared in an acting role since Modern Family ended, also reflected on taking on the part at such a young age. "I think people don't realize, I was working, and if I wasn't working on the set, that I had to do three hours of studio school a day, so I had no time to rest except lunch," she said at the time. "And there are moments that were fun, for sure. And there were things I loved about it." Despite her break from acting since 2020, Anderson-Emmons has released music as a budding pop star under the name Frances coming out on Monday, she teased the June 27 release of new song "Don't Forget Me" in a short video that shows her slow-dancing with a woman. The mockumentary-style series ran for 11 seasons until its cancellation in 2020. The actress, who now sports bangs and is much older than she was on the show, opened up about what it was like growing up on TV. "I was not forced into anything," Anderson-Emmons said of her child stardom. "Like, my mom wasn't like, 'You're gonna do this.' Like, it was not like that, and I was not abused on set or anything like that. Like, I swear to God." She continued, "But, it's true. You don't know what you're getting yourself into as a 4-year-old when, like, you sign a contract to be on a show." "I just think it was really hard for me to grow up with so many people's opinions," she continued, noting it was difficult to handle rejection while auditioning for roles after Modern Family ended. After taking a break from acting for a few years, Anderson-Emmons said she got involved in her high school theater program and realized she really did love acting. Recently, she has started auditioning for roles again in addition to creating original music. Check out her singing skills! All 11 seasons of Modern Family are available to stream on Peacock. Next:
