Kaamatan celebrates unity and culture, boosts tourism — Joachim

Published on: Sat, May 17, 2025 Text Size: KUALA PENYU: Kaamatan serves as a platform to honour Sabah's cultural heritage, foster unity among diverse communities, and promote tourism, said Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam. Speaking at the Kuala Penyu and Menumbok district-level celebration, he emphasized that the Harvest Festival unites people across different backgrounds and should be used to strengthen community bonds while preserving tradition.
Advertisement Dr. Joachim, also KDCA Deputy President, said the festival's cultural uniqueness attracts local and international tourists, benefiting the economy. He urged all levels, from villages to state, to use Kaamatan as a strategic opportunity to showcase Sabah's heritage globally.
