The Scottish foodie village with gorgeous beach perfect for summer day out
It is once again time for the Daily Record's Town of the Week. Every week, we choose one town or village from across Scotland and delve into everything it has to offer.
For the latest edition of our weekly series, we are journeying to Cullen. The pretty village by the seaside in Moray is a great place to spend a sunny summer day, with plenty of walks and beauty spots to check out.
The most notable destination around the village is Cullen Beach, a golden sandy beach that looks out over Cullen Bay. It is sheltered by the surrounding cliffs, making it a great spot for a swim.
Another top beauty spot well worth checking out is the Cullen Viaduct. The disused railway line, which dates back to the 1880s, crosses the Burn of Cullen.
Meanwhile, Cullen is perhaps most famous for being where Cullen skink originated. The iconic Scottish dish is a thick Scottish soup that includes smoked haddock, potatoes, and onions.
It isn't just its history that makes Cullen a top foodie destination. Despite its small size, there are various restaurants and cafés that serve up top-quality food.
Among the standouts of the village's food scene are Linda's Fish and Chips and the Rockpool Cafe. The former is a great spot to pick up a fish supper to enjoy on the beach, while the Rockpool Cafe serves up a wide selection of breakfast and lunch dishes—including of course Cullen skink.
