Gardai renew appeal for information on 2017 murder of Dublin woman

Gardai have issued a fresh appeal for information over the murder of a young woman whose body was found in woods in Dublin eight years ago today. Shortly after 9am on June 24, 2017, Linda Christian Evans, a 29-year-old from Blanchardstown, left the Ash Ward of James Connolly Memorial Hospital, where she had been receiving treatment. She was wearing a green bomber jacket, blue jeans and was carrying a pink gym bag when she was last seen. On Saturday July 1, 2017, Linda's family reported her missing and on Monday July 17, 2017, her body was discovered at Coolmine Woods, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15. Linda was discovered in dense undergrowth wearing the same clothes in which she vanished, after gardai carried out a two-day long search in the area. The results of a post-mortem examination were inconclusive, but gardaí believe she died violently. Despite an extensive Garda investigation and a number of enquiries followed, including the arrest of a male in 2018, no one has been brought to justice for Linda's murder. Now, on the eighth anniversary of the discovery of Linda's body, An Garda Síochána have issued a fresh appeal for information concerning her murder. The Irish Mirror's Crime Writers Michael O'Toole and Paul Healy are writing a new weekly newsletter called Crime Ireland. "Gardaí and Linda's family are appealing for people to come forward to assist with the investigation. "An Garda Síochána would encourage anyone with any information regarding Linda's disappearance and murder, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to make contact with the investigation team. Particularly, any person who may have information on Linda's movements around Coolmine Woods at the time of her disappearance is asked to contact Gardaí. "With the passage of time, people may now feel more comfortable sharing information with Gardaí. An Garda Síochána would like to assure the public that they will treat anyone assisting the investigation in a sensitive manner. "Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
