Quebec Transportation Minister Geneviève Guilbault announced Friday that she is implementing a "restructuring unit" at the SAAQ, an attempt to restore public confidence in the automobile insurance board following the SAAQclic scandal.
Guilbault said the unit will "clean up" the SAAQ.
They will take a "contemporary look" at the SAAQ, compare its performance to other similar organizations, evaluate the quality of its services and identify ways to improve, the transportation ministry said in a press release.
They will also assess the organization's financial situation, find ways to reduce spending and "propose relevant changes to the skill profile of the members of the SAAQ's board of directors," according to the press release.

The unit is made up of three people with senior management experience:
Linda Gosselin, who was the vice president of Promutuel Assurance for eight years;
André Legault, who was managing director of Quebec City between 2013 and 2018 and held different management positions at the SAAQ between 2007 and 2011;
Pierre Rodrigue who is currently strategic advisor for the communication agency TACT and was previously vice-president at Bell Canada, Quebecor and Astral Media.
Guilbault says the three will provide "an external, objective, and informed perspective on the situation, a contribution that I felt was important in continuing the cleanup that needs to be done at the SAAQ."
SAAQclic, implemented in 2023, was meant to be a one-stop-shop platform for Quebecers to complete certain SAAQ services online instead of in person.
