Possum-sized robot aids South Burlington sports fields

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – Since last year, the South Burlington Parks Division has used a GPS-guided miniature robot to paint its fields for sports and mark lines. The robot even has a name – 'Linus'. The City of South Burlington wrote in a Facebook post, 'Linus the line-striping robot can mark a soccer field in about half an hour, freeing up its human coworkers for mowing and other maintenance.' The City has put the robot to work at Veteran's Memorial Park in advance of practices, games, and other events. UVM nurses practice at state-of-the art 'virtual hospital' By contrast, the Gold Country Soccer League in California estimates that a human painter would take twice that time just for a touch-up and longer for a whole new painting from scratch. Fields need to be repainted as often as once a week during regular use, and painting all the lines for a football field is even more complex and time-consuming. The robot, a specialized model known as a Turf Tank, can paint any of over 120 patterns entered into its customized software. It can also estimate how much paint it will use in its operations in advance. The company claims the robot's precision means it uses as little as half the amount of paint that would be needed to complete the painting manually. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Ullmark's shutout and Tkachuk-Stutzle duo fuel Senators' game 5 triumph over Leafs

The air crackled with tension inside Scotiabank Arena as the Ottawa Senators , facing elimination once again, delivered a masterful performance to silence the Toronto Maple Leafs faithful. #Pahalgam Terrorist Attack PM Modi-led 'Super Cabinet' reviews J&K security arrangements Pakistan's General Asim Munir is itching for a fight. Are his soldiers willing? India planning to launch military strike against Pakistan within 24 to 36 hours, claims Pak minister Goaltender Linus Ullmark stood tall, turning aside all 29 shots he faced for his first career playoff shutout, while captain Brady Tkachuk and dynamic forward Tim Stutzle each contributed a goal and two assists in the decisive 4-0 victory on April 29. Having surrendered a combined 12 goals in the series' opening three contests, Ullmark has found a new level of resilience, allowing just three goals on 63 shots in the past two games. His stellar play provided the backbone for an inspired Senators team that refused to succumb. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 3 Reasons to Plug This Into Your Home Today elecTrick - Save upto 80% on Power Bill Learn More Undo 'It doesn't really matter in a playoff series how you're doing, you can lose 1-0, you can lose 6-2, it's still a loss,' Ullmark stated matter-of-factly. 'My job is to stop pucks and every night it's all about battling it out with the other goalie on the other team, try to make more saves than the other guy and come out victorious. Sometimes I'd say it comes down to lady luck when it comes down to certain different areas of the game, but you have to earn it.' Live Events The Senators, the Eastern Conference's first wild card, showcased a collective effort, fueled by a desire to extend their season. 'It took everybody,' Tkachuk emphasized. 'Our best player tonight was Linus, who made some huge saves for us, but it took everybody on the bench, everybody in our room. Everybody wanted to win. Our will to win was high and I think it paid off.' Meanwhile, Anthony Stolarz, in net for the top-seeded Maple Leafs, stopped 15 shots but couldn't match Ullmark's brilliance. Despite the setback, Toronto still holds a 3-2 series lead heading back to Ottawa. 'They capitalized on two chances and we seemed a little snakebitten getting pucks by Linus tonight,' Stolarz conceded. 'At the end of the day, if you were to tell us before the series we'd be up 3-2 going back to their place, that's a position that we'll take.' Early in the game, Ullmark denied John Tavares on a breakaway, setting the tone for his exceptional night. Later in the first period, Chris Tanev thwarted Drake Batherson on a power play, keeping the game scoreless. Despite being outshot 12-4 in the opening frame, the Senators remained resolute. 'I thought we started well, good chances,' Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews said. 'I thought, just, the execution at times wasn't there. Obviously, they get the first goal and we're just kind of chasing the game from there, but I thought we did good things. But in the end, there's little plays, execution -- it's the small details. They made good on their chances and here we are.' Thomas Chabot finally broke the deadlock for Ottawa early in the second period, his shot deflecting off Matthews and past Stolarz. Ullmark continued to shut the door, notably stopping Mitch Marner from close range later in the period. 'Not surprising,' Senators coach Travis Green remarked on Ullmark's performance. 'I feel like I've been talking about Linus a lot this series and we've got a lot of confidence in him and rightfully so. He was sharp again tonight.' The Senators extended their lead in the third period with a short-handed goal from Dylan Cozens, capitalizing on an errant pass from Matthews. 'Gaudette made a great read and picked it off,' Cozens explained. 'It was good poise by him to let me get up the ice and he made a great pass. I just shot it and it went in. It was a great play by Gaudette.' Matthews nearly answered for Toronto, ringing a shot off the post. However, empty-net goals from Stutzle and Tkachuk sealed the decisive victory for Ottawa. 'We had chances to score, didn't capitalize on our chances,' Tanev acknowledged. 'They scored the goal and then defended well and won the special teams, which has obviously been a thing every game. Special teams has been a huge part of the game. And it will continue to be Thursday.' 'It's been a tight-checking series,' Green reflected. 'I don't think it's just these last two games, we played pretty well in the games before that, but I do think our individual game and collectively, our game has gotten better. I think part of it is from not playing in the playoffs before and feeling a little more comfortable.' The Senators' resilient goaltending from Linus Ullmark and timely scoring from Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle propelled them to a dominant 4-0 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 5. Ullmark's first playoff shutout staved off elimination for Ottawa, forcing a Game 6 back in their home arena with Toronto still leading the best-of-seven series 3-2.

Senior dog vanished from home destroyed in tornado. Then came emotional reunion

A 'sweet' senior dog vanished from a home destroyed in a tornado — then came a heartwarming reunion. 'Linus' survival story is nothing short of extraordinary,' the Mississippi Animal Project wrote on its website. The lost pup was found safe more than a week after a tornado tore his family's home into 'pieces,' according to the organization. The National Weather Service said EF3 and EF4 twisters left paths of destruction March 15 when they hit near Tylertown, a roughly 100-mile drive south from Jackson. The tornado killed one of the family's dogs and left some people in their home seriously injured. The family searched for Linus, but he had disappeared amid the destruction, the animal organization wrote on Facebook and in an email to McClatchy News. 'It gets to the point where you face the reality that you're probably not going to find him,' dog owner Curtis Bush told WDAM. The family turned to the Mississippi Animal Project, which said it spent days trying to trap the missing dog with no luck. Then when he was seen going off into the woods, searchers called a drone operator. 'We knew time was critical — and we were determined to do everything we could to bring him home,' drone company Raven 6 Rising wrote in a Facebook post. Eventually, a drone tracked down Linus, making for a 'silver lining' after all the moments of 'heartbreak,' according to the Mississippi Animal Project. The dog was found in rough shape but is recovering, rescuers said. 'Linus had some skin irritation, ear infection and was limping on his rear leg with some stiffness and arthritis issues,' the animal organization wrote. 'We had our vet examine him and give medications and they gave him a nice bath as he was quite the smelly boy after surviving ten days on his own.' After Linus made it to safety, rescuers celebrated him reuniting with his family. Tears flowed when Bush and his dog were back together after days spent apart, WDAM reported. 'We'll rebuild,' Bush told the TV station. 'This isn't going to take us out.'

Leading Creator Reveals How He Makes Money—and It's Not What You Think

Linus Sebastian By any measure, Linus Tech Tips is one of the most successful YouTube channels in the world with more than 16 million subscribers and 8 billion views. But what Linus Sebastian has built goes far beyond a channel. It's a diversified, vertically integrated media company—one that continues to grow in scale, influence, and sustainability. In a detailed (and very on-brand) video posted to the Linus Tech Tips channel this week, Linus and his team broke down exactly how their business made money in 2024. While they no longer disclose exact revenue figures, the percentage split reveals how the business has evolved over the last 8 years. The single largest source of revenue in 2024 was which accounted for 55% of total revenue—up from just 15% in 2020. That growth has been driven by product innovation, fulfillment efficiency, and sheer scale. 'Back then, two of our biggest product families didn't exist yet—hand tools and bags—which now make up about half the revenue,' the team explained in the video. LMG even flipped the model—going from being sponsored to becoming a sponsor themselves. 'We recently flipped the script and went from sponsor to sponsorer, choosing some of our favorite creators to show off all of our products,' said COO Nick Light. AdSense made up a smaller percentage of revenue in 2024 than in previous years—down from 26% in 2020. But that's not a decline in performance; it's a reflection of how fast other areas of the business are growing. 'Just because it's a smaller percentage does not mean that it's less money,' said another team member. 'It means that LMG is far less reliant on our Google overlords than we used to be.' 61.5% of YouTube revenue came from traditional ads, while 37.3% came from YouTube Premium—despite Premium users only making up 29% of views. Shorts, by comparison, underperformed: one 13-million-view short earned just $1,300. LMG's top channels for AdSense were the main Linus Tech Tips channel (76%), ShortCircuit, and TechLinked. Sponsorships made up 21% of total revenue in 2024, broken down into: LMG now works with over 150 sponsors across 13 categories. PC parts made up 34.6% of sponsor revenue, followed by SaaS (25.5%) and lifestyle brands (13.6%). 'A sponsor can buy airtime on our channel, but they can never buy our opinion,' Linus said. 'And if a sponsor doesn't like it, we'll just drop them—like we've dropped so many others.' Floatplane, LMG's proprietary paid video platform, contributed 7% of revenue—up 1% from the year before. Despite subscriber losses after the August 2023 'great reset,' the platform bounced back thanks to stronger exclusive content and new offerings like 4K video and event access. 'You are the boss… when you choose to directly support us on Floatplane,' Linus told viewers. Affiliate marketing brought in 3% of revenue. These are links typically found in video descriptions or on LMG's websites that generate a commission when users make a purchase. What makes Linus's story so compelling is how deliberately he's built LMG from the start. 'Unlike most creators that I meet, I was never a one-man show—not even for one day,' Linus told Colin and Samir in a December 2024 interview. 'I always had someone operating a camera, operating a timeline—usually both.' In the early years, money was tight: 'We almost ran out of money… If I didn't nail things, we just wouldn't have had money to pay paychecks. I had what I called the one-take policy.' Today, the company employs over 100 people. Linus has stepped back from daily operations (he hired a CEO in 2023), but remains deeply involved in scripting, creative direction, and writing. 'If there's anything that I am as a creative, I would say it's that I'm a writer… My canvas is a blank sheet of paper.' Even as the business has matured, its core philosophy hasn't changed. 'The audience is the boss,' Linus said. 'And it's the hardest boss in the world.' What Linus has built is far beyond the 'solo creator + AdSense' model. It's an independent media company with: As an investor in creator-led businesses, I've seen firsthand how this model of vertical integration and audience alignment can scale and is exactly the kind of structure we aim to build with the creators we partner with. I believe the next great media brand won't come from Hollywood—it'll be built by creators who follow this playbook.
