Monkey is back - and he's married, with two children

The iconic mascot first appeared on screen in 2001 PG Tips' iconic Monkey mascot is making a much-anticipated comeback, with the launch of the new reality TV-inspired ad - At Home with Monkey. Premiering on Friday, May 9, At Home with Monkey follows Monkey's new life with his wife, Mrs. M, played by Emily Atack. Monkey is now married and has two children, Earl and Chai. In a continuation of his successful media career, Monkey now has a reality show documenting the ups and downs of his daily life (sponsored by PG Tips). The ad sees the pair navigating the highs and lows of married life - the banter, the bickering and the brews. ‌ Comedian Ivo Graham now lends his voice to Monkey. ‌ Monkey said: "That's right, I'm back! Spilling the tea on life with Alice... Mrs M, if we're being fancy. That's right, I've tied the knot! And we've flung open the doors (and the biscuit tin) to let you all in. Like all good reality shows, there are highs, lows, laughs, tears ... and enough tea to rehydrate a small nation. You'll see us muddling through it all. Marriage, mayhem, and meltdowns (did I mention the kids?) "Because married life's a bit like a teabag, you don't know how strong it is until it's in hot water. But no matter what's brewing, there's always a cup of PG to help us pause, reset, and crack on with whatever's next." Emily Atack said: "It's not often you get the opportunity to work with a national treasure. Filming alongside the knitted and quick-witted Monkey has been such a joy - I absolutely loved stepping into the role of Mrs. M, and living life one tea at a time as Monkey's other half. It is both hilarious and heartwarming in equal measure! "Alice definitely keeps Monkey on his toes, and I think many couples will relate to their dynamic. I can't wait to spill the tea on what this duo have been up to!" Elle Barker, UK and Ireland chief marketing officer at Lipton Teas and Infusions, said, "Monkey is a legendary mascot beloved by the British public – people have missed him, so have we! His comeback is long overdue and this new campaign captures the chaos of family life and the role that tea plays in fuelling the day for British families." PG Tips monkey is back and ‘married' to Emily Atack

The PG Tips monkey is back and 'married' to the actress Emily Atack. A new advert, which will be launched on Friday, features the PG Tips monkey, voiced by the comedian Ivo Graham, and the primate's new wife, Alice, played by Atack. Atack previously starred as Sarah Stratton in Rivals and Charlotte Hinchcliffe in The Inbetweeners. Filmed as if it were a reality TV show, the advert is set in the couple's family home and follows the ups and downs of their married life, including their two children, Earl and Chai. It also includes a nod to a scene from Netflix's Beckham documentary in which David Beckham urged Victoria to 'be honest'. The PG Tips monkey has been a distinctive face of the brand for more than 20 years, with fans proudly displaying extensive Monkey mascot collections and running Monkey Appreciation Facebook groups. Atack described playing the role as 'hilarious and heartwarming in equal measure'. She said: 'It's not often you get the opportunity to work with a national treasure. Filming alongside the knitted and quick-witted Monkey has been such a joy – I absolutely loved stepping into the role of Mrs M, and living life one tea at a time as Monkey's other half. It is both hilarious and heartwarming in equal measure. 'Alice definitely keeps Monkey on his toes, and I think many couples will relate to their dynamic. I can't wait to spill the tea on what this duo have been up to.' According to a YouGov survey from 2015, PG Tips is the UK's most popular tea brand. Made in Manchester since the 1930s and now part of Lipton Teas and Infusions, the brand sells more than three billion tea bags a year. Elle Barker, the UK and Ireland chief marketing officer at Lipton Teas and Infusions, said: 'Monkey is a legendary mascot beloved by the British public – people have missed him, so have we. 'His comeback is long overdue and this new campaign captures the chaos of family life and the role that tea plays in fuelling the day for British families. She added: 'Our 'Live life one tea at a time' campaign puts the iconic PG Tips brand and infamous Monkey back in the spotlight where they deserve to be'.

Lipton Teas and Infusions appoints new CEO

Lipton Teas and Infusions has picked Pierre Laubies as its new CEO. Laubies steps in to lead the tea and herbal-drinks group after being chairman of the company's supervisory board since 2022. He has also been interim CEO for the past six months, replacing Nathalie Roos who stepped down as chief executive in September. The company said it had decided to formalise Laubies' appointment as it saw "maintaining continuity" as "the best way forward". Roos had been hired in 2022 by Lipton's owners, CVC Capital Partners, in the wake of their acquisition of the business from Unilever. In a statement at the time of her departure, the Netherlands-based group said Roos had 'for personal reasons, in agreement with the board' decided to step down. Today's (2 April) statement to announce Laubies' appointment cited his "30 years of leadership experience" at companies including Mars and Campbell Soup Company. He has also previously worked as CEO of coffee group Jacobs Douwe Egberts and beauty company Coty, and also as a board member of French agri-food business Groupe Panzani. At the time of her departure, the Lipton tea maker said Roos had 'relaunched many of the company's key brands with some considerable success'. The group also pointed to the formation of a new 'global responsible sourcing partnership' with tea exporter Brown's Investments. In May, Lipton Teas and Infusions handed off its tea estates in Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania to Sri Lanka-based peer Browns Investment. The transaction included the Kericho plantation in Kenya that had been at the centre of historical violence and human-rights issues. Earlier this year, Lipton announced plans to invest zł60m ($14.7m) into its factory in the Katowice, southern Poland. The company is looking to grow demand for fruit and herbal teas, with drinkers interested in the reputed health benefits of the products. Lipton is known for its namesake brand, as well as Pukka, Tazo, T2 and Pukka teas. It manages eight packaging sites in four continents and has presence in more than 100 countries.
