PG Tips monkey is back and ‘married' to Emily Atack

The PG Tips monkey is back and 'married' to the actress Emily Atack.
A new advert, which will be launched on Friday, features the PG Tips monkey, voiced by the comedian Ivo Graham, and the primate's new wife, Alice, played by Atack.
Atack previously starred as Sarah Stratton in Rivals and Charlotte Hinchcliffe in The Inbetweeners.
Filmed as if it were a reality TV show, the advert is set in the couple's family home and follows the ups and downs of their married life, including their two children, Earl and Chai.
It also includes a nod to a scene from Netflix's Beckham documentary in which David Beckham urged Victoria to 'be honest'.
The PG Tips monkey has been a distinctive face of the brand for more than 20 years, with fans proudly displaying extensive Monkey mascot collections and running Monkey Appreciation Facebook groups.
Atack described playing the role as 'hilarious and heartwarming in equal measure'.
She said: 'It's not often you get the opportunity to work with a national treasure. Filming alongside the knitted and quick-witted Monkey has been such a joy – I absolutely loved stepping into the role of Mrs M, and living life one tea at a time as Monkey's other half. It is both hilarious and heartwarming in equal measure.
'Alice definitely keeps Monkey on his toes, and I think many couples will relate to their dynamic. I can't wait to spill the tea on what this duo have been up to.'
According to a YouGov survey from 2015, PG Tips is the UK's most popular tea brand.
Made in Manchester since the 1930s and now part of Lipton Teas and Infusions, the brand sells more than three billion tea bags a year.
Elle Barker, the UK and Ireland chief marketing officer at Lipton Teas and Infusions, said: 'Monkey is a legendary mascot beloved by the British public – people have missed him, so have we.
'His comeback is long overdue and this new campaign captures the chaos of family life and the role that tea plays in fuelling the day for British families.

He also said he had 'mistakenly' said his preferred option on AI and copyright was requiring rights-holders to 'opt out' of their material being used by tech companies, and had since 'gone back to the drawing board'. Ministers have faced a backlash from major figures in the creative industries over their approach to copyright, with Sir Elton John this week describing the situation as an 'existential issue.' The Government is locked in a standoff with the House of Lords, which has demanded artists to be offered immediate copyright protection as an amendment to the Data (Use and Access) Bill. Peers have attempted to change the legislation by adding a commitment to introduce transparency requirements aimed at ensuring rights-holders are able to see when their work has been used and by whom. Asked about the risk of AI producing unreliable information, Mr Kyle said 'people need to understand that AI is not flawless, and that AI does lie because it's based on human characteristics'. 'Now it is getting more precise as we move forward. It's getting more powerful as we move forward,' he told Sky News's Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips. 'But as with every single technology that comes into society, you can only safely use it and wisely use it by understanding how it works.' He added: 'We are going to legislate for AI going forward and we're going to balance it with the same legislation that we'll bring in to modernise the copyright legislation as well.' The Government has said it will address copyright issues as a whole after the more than 11,500 responses to its consultation on the impact of AI have been reviewed, rather than in what it has branded 'piecemeal' legislation. Among the proposals had been a suggestion that tech companies could be given free access to British music, films, books in order to train AI models without permission or payment, with artists required to 'opt-out' if they do not want their work to be used. Asked about the prospect of an opt-out clause, Mr Kyle told the BBC's Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg programme: 'I always had on the table from the outset an opt-out clause. 'But I mistakenly said this was my preferred option that had more prominence than perhaps some of the creatives wanted it to have, and I've now sort of gone back to the drawing board on that, because I am listening to what people want.' Last month hundreds of stars including Sir Elton, Sir Paul McCartney and Kate Bush signed a joint letter to Sir Keir Starmer urging the Prime Minister to introduce safeguards against work being plundered for free.

Fans of Netflix have been urged to watch the thriller Straw following its recent addition to the streaming service. Written, directed and produced by Alex Cross star Tyler Perry, the film stars Taraji P. Henson as a single mother who becomes embroiled in a sequence of terrible and violent events as she struggles to care for her ill daughter. The film also stars Jingle All the Way actor and comedian Sinbad, and Precious actress Sherri Shepherd. Released on the streaming service on June 6, the film has already picked up traction among viewers, swiftly moving up the charts to become the platform's most streamed movie in the UK this weekend. Emerging to strong word of mouth from audiences, it has already been described as one of the director's best films to date (admittedly, this mixed-bag of a catalogue does include his Madea and Mrs. Brown's Boys crossover).
