Archery sisters aiming for more Island Games medals

Zoe (left) and Lisa Gray have won 22 Island Games medals between them since 2011 [BBC] Archery sisters Zoe and Lisa Gray hope to add to their medal tally at the upcoming Island Games for Guernsey. The pair have won 11 medals each in four previous Island Games going back to 2011, including five golds. Advertisement Four of the golds have come for Lisa in recurve shooting, while Zoe took compound head to head team knockout gold in 2011. "We shoot on the coast so we're used to the wind and the weather, but you just never know what you're going to get when you get there," said Zoe, who is not sure what to expect of the conditions on host island Orkney. "Obviously, being an outdoor sport we're up against the elements as well, but we've just got to do our best on the day and see how it goes." Lisa won three silver medals at the 2023 Island Games on home soil, having won three golds when archery was last included before that in 2017. Advertisement She said: "We don't actually have a full list of everyone that's going to be there, we have some idea. "Obviously, you always want to win a medal of any colour - gold is obviously the best - but we just want to go there and do our friends, family and the island proud and just see how we get on." Having always been in the Guernsey team together, Zoe said having the support of her sister has been a great help over the years. "Thankfully, we shoot different bow styles, so we're not actually ever against each other, so we can support each other from the sidelines. "But it is actually really nice that you know that every competition you go to you've got your sister there. "We've pretty much competed together for the whole of the time we've done archery."
