‘Abusive' Call: NCW asks SP to revise action taken report in Anubrata case
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has sought a revised action taken report from Birbhum Superintendent of Police in connection with the case involving TMC leader Anubrata Mondal, who allegedly used abusive language against Bolpur inspector-in-charge Litan Halder and his family during a phone call last month.
On Tuesday, the NCW sent a second letter to the SP, expressing 'serious dissatisfaction' with the police response and sought a revised action taken report within five working days. It stated, 'While an action taken report (ATR) has been received, it is grossly inadequate… and fails to comply with the requisitions made by the Commission.'
The letter stated that NCW had requested a detailed report, including certified copies of the FIR, medical examination report of the accused, and other supporting documents. According to the Commission, these have not been provided. Additionally, the NCW claimed that the ATR does not indicate whether the interrogation of the accused was videographed.
