County Durham mayor on his weight loss journey - 'I feel much better'
An update has been given on a County Durham mayor's weight loss journey.
The Mayor of Ferryhill, Councillor Angus Ferguson, set himself a challenge on June 18 to lose weight as a way of raising some funds for his chosen charities.
The charities set to benefit from funds raised are Little Treasures Autism Charity and Stray Aid.
The Mayor's weight at the start of the challenge was 18 stone, 7 lbs, and 2 ounces.

On Friday, July 18, he visited Ferryhill Town Hall for a weigh-in and was 'really pleased' to find out his new weight was 17 stone, 11 lbs, making a loss of 10 lbs in one month.
Angus Ferguson said: "As well as raising money for my chosen charities, I set this challenge for my own physical and mental wellbeing.
"After just one month, I have exceeded my expectations; I feel much better, I am walking quicker, my mobility has improved, I look better to myself in the mirror, and I have better self-confidence.

"I have achieved this weight loss by cutting out fat, drinking more water, being more selective and careful about what I eat, reducing my portion sizes, and doing more exercise, such as walking (even the dog feels better).
"A real bonus to the weight loss is that my clothes now fit better, even the clothes that have been stored away.
"As I continue with the challenge, my blood pressure will reduce, and I'm sure the challenge will become easier the more weight I lose."
Councillor Ferguson is asking people for sponsorship to go towards his charity fundraising and support him in his bid to shed the pounds.
His target weight is set at 16 stone.
