Bono Weighs in on Trump-Bruce Springsteen Drama: 'There's Only One Boss in America'

Bono is weighing in on the Bruce Springsteen and Donald Trump drama, as well as responding to the president's call for a 'major investigation' into Bono's support for Kamala Harris. The U2 frontman recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where the host asked him, 'Whose side are you on, Trump or Bruce Springsteen?' The Trump-Springsteen drama started when the rock star slammed the Trump administration during a concert in the U.K., telling the audience that the U.S. is 'currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.' While the president vaguely threatened him in response, Springsteen has since doubled down on his claims at another concert. Jimmy Kimmel later brought up Trump's rant that he posted on his social media platform Truth Social earlier this month, calling for an investigation into major recording acts and entertainment notables — including Bono, Springsteen, Beyoncé and Oprah Winfrey — who showed their support for Harris during her presidential campaign. 'I don't want to cut in on your action because I know the president at 1 a.m., or 1:30, or whatever that was, is usually thinking about you,' Bono quipped, referencing Kimmel and Trump's years-long feud. 'But two points I'll make,' the Grammy-winning musician continued. 'One, to be the company of Bruce Springsteen, Beyoncé, and Oprah — I'll play tambourine in that band. And two, U2 and I have never paid or played a show to support any candidate from any party. It has never happened.' He later joked that Trump's Truth Social platform 'seems to be pretty antisocial' and is 'not very true a lot of the time.' Bono also offered Kimmel his thoughts on why he thinks he was among the artists Trump has targeted. He said it 'might be the fact that I co-founded the One Campaign, which is, by design, bipartisan.' Why Charlize Theron Thinks Uma Thurman Should've Won an Oscar for ‘Kill Bill'

Charlize Theron is wishing one actress took home a golden statuette for their work. Theron recently stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote her upcoming movie, The Old Guard 2, when the pair spoke about her co-star, Uma Thurman, and Theron's recollection of the actress before working with her. 'Because when I came into the action world, she was really, to me, like, the sensei. She was the OG.' Jimmy Kimmel added, 'I agree. She should have won the Academy Award for Kill Bill, right?' Theron responded, 'A hundred percent. I think men get a lot of credit for these movies.' 'What she did in that film was just so unbelievable. And to me, she's just such a badass,' the Mad Max: Fury Road actress continued. 'Since I've been in action movies, I'm like, 'Who do I want to like work with and do an action sequence with?' It's always been Uma Thurman. Always.' Theron then explained why she was nervous to work with the Pulp Fiction star. 'I was definitely intimidated by her especially when she showed up and she was given one sword and we had worked out this whole sequence and she went, 'I think I want two swords,'' the actress said. Theron won her best actress Oscar in 2004 for Monster and was nominated in 2006 for North Country and in 2020 for Bombshell. For Thurman's part, she received a nom for Pulp Fiction in 1995, but lost to Jessica Lange. Bono laughed after being posed the question, responding: 'There's only one Boss in America,' namechecking Springsteen's nickname. Kimmel then asked Bono if he had seen Trump's recent Truth Social post in which he accused the singer of being paid — along with Springsteen, Beyonce and Oprah Winfrey — to endorse Kamala Harris during last year's presidential election. 'I don't want to cut in on your action, because I know the president at 1 a.m., or 1:30, or whatever, is usually thinking about you,' Bono replied, referencing Kimmel's own feud with Trump. One, to be the company of Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, and Oprah — I'll play tambourine in that band,' he joked. 'And two, U2 and I have never (been) paid or played a show to support any candidate from any party. It has never happened.' Hitting out at Trump's social media platform, calling Truth Social ' pretty antisocial' and remarking that 'it's not very true a lot of the time,' Bono said that ' there will be trouble' following Trump's cuts to foreign aid. ' I co-founded the One Campaign, which is, by design, bipartisan,' he said, acknowledging his anti-poverty organization. 'We've got a lot of very religious Catholics, Evangelicals, Conservatives who are very, very, very angry with the person that they voted into office having demolished instruments of mercy and compassion like USAID (United States Agency for International Development) or PEPFAR (United States President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief), which can save 26 million lives of people who have AIDS around the world,' Bono said. Trump and Springsteen's fight began after the Born in the U.S.A. rocker lashed out at the president on the opening night of the European leg of his Land of Hope and Dreams Tour. 'In my home, the America I love, the America I've written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration,' he told the crowd in Manchester, England. Bruce Springsteen and Donald Trump are seen in this combination file photo. Photo by Getty Images Springsteen also said that most of Trump's colleagues have failed to shield Americans 'from the abuses of an unfit president and a rogue government.' In response, Trump called the 20-time Grammy winner a 'dried-out 'prune'' and declared that he 'never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics.' He later returned to Truth Social and shared a doctored video of himself hitting a golf ball alongside a clip of the singer taking a tumble onstage after he's hit with an animated projectile. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 21, 2025 The ongoing conflict has drawn other rockers out of the woodwork, including Neil Young, who took to his website earlier this month to warn Trump he's 'not scared' of the president. 'Bruce and thousands of musicians think you are ruining America. You worry about that instead of the dyin' kids in Gaza. That's your problem,' he wrote. 'STOP THINKING ABOUT WHAT ROCKERS ARE SAYING. Cory Booker Blames Both Trump and New Jersey for Newark Airport Chaos

Perhaps surprisingly, New Jersey senator Cory Booker isn't just blaming Donald Trump for the recent problems at Newark International Airport. During a recent interview on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!,' the politician pointed to both infrastructure failures and Trump for the much mocked airport. 'So you're telling me that it's not necessarily Trump's fault, this situation we have in Newark?' Kimmel asked the New Jersey politician. 'I'm telling you candidly, it's both,' Booker said. 'We have deferred infrastructure improvements that we should not have. But when Trump came in and DOGE and Elon Musk began firing key safety officials for the FAA, began laying off key personnel — one of the biggest issues right now is a personnel issue in addition to the technology issue.' Earlier this months, hundreds of flight cancelations and delays at Newark caused Democratic Minority Leader of the Senate Chuck Schumer to call for an investigation into the cause. It was eventually found that several compounding issues led to the widely mocked delays, including staffing shortages when it came to air traffic controllers, aging technology, the airport closing its busiest runways and bad weather. While on Kimmel's show, Booker also noted that the infrastructure for U.S. airports is the same technology that was used when his grandparents were alive. 'This is the president who said he was going to keep us safe by firing health officials, by firing FAA officials, by firing the people who inspect our food,' Booker continued. 'This man has patently made us less safe as a nation. And this is an example he contributed.' That was far from the only shot Booker took at Trump on Wednesday night. The senator also called the president 'the greatest grifter to ever be in the White House' and appeared shocked that Trump is 'doing it out in the open.' 'He has made billions of dollars since he's been in office by grifting off of that public position, and it's disgusting. There's very little accountability if Congress won't do what Congress was designed to do, which is to offer checks and balances to the presidency,' Booker said. Watch the full ABC interview above. Miley Cyrus Says Filming a Scene for ‘Something Beautiful' Gave Her a ‘Disgusting' Infection

Miley Cyrus isn't above making sacrifices for her art. While guesting on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Friday (May 23), the pop star revealed that she caught a 'brutal' infection in her leg after filming a not-so-hygienic scene for her upcoming Something Beautiful film — resulting in a condition that was so nasty, even her doctors were grossed out. As seen in some of the previews for Something Beautiful — the accompanying visual to Cyrus' fast-approaching album of the same name — the musician at one point rolls around on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the film. But while breaking down the scene for Kimmel, Cyrus revealed that she didn't have the budget to rent out the iconic strip, so she simply went and filmed there in the middle of the night — meaning there was no time or opportunity for her team to clean the ground on which countless people tread day in and day out, before she fully subjected herself to any germs and bacteria on the premises while shooting. More from Billboard Miley Cyrus Is 'Fueled by Fantasy' in 'Something Beautiful' Film Trailer Featuring an Unreleased Song U2's Bono Calls for Hamas to 'Release the Hostages, Stop the War' During Ivor Novello Awards Speech Rob49 on Viral Stardom, 'Let Me Fly,' Collab Album With G Herbo & Making Music With Justin Bieber About a month later, the Grammy winner says she had to go to the ICU because her 'leg began to disintegrate' around her knee. 'The doctor goes, 'Do you have any idea why you would have such a brutal infection on your kneecap?'' she said, noting that her mind immediately flashed back to writhing around on the unspeakably dirty Walk of Fame. 'To have a surgeon look at you and say, 'Yuck,'' Cyrus continued as audience members laughed. 'Like, they open up cadavers, they see inside the guts of humans, and they're looking at me telling me I'm disgusting.' Fans can check out a snippet of the scene in question in trailers for Something Beautiful, but they won't get to see the full thing until the film premieres in theaters for one night only on June 12 in the United States and Canada, and June 27 worldwide. The album itself drops May 30, with Cyrus unveiling the tracklist — featuring collaborations with Brittany Howard and Naomi Campbell — earlier in May. Cyrus' conversation with Kimmel comes just one day after her sit-down with Apple Music 1's Zane Lowe went live, featuring the Hannah Montana alum getting candid about her sobriety. 'I've learned this about myself over the years,' she said in the interview. 'The sobriety is like, that's like my God. I need it, I live for it. I mean that it's changed my entire life.' She also opened up about why winning her first-ever Grammys — best pop solo performance and record of the year for Billboard Hot 100-topping hit 'Flowers' — in 2024 was a 'healing' experience for her. 'I think somewhere inside of me, I needed maybe to hold a trophy and just feel for a moment that I have something that I can hold in my hands that feels like a true achievement,' she told Lowe. Also on Kimmel, Cyrus performed 'More to Lose,' one of the singles off Something Beautiful. The album has also been led by 'Prelude,' 'End of the World' and its title track.
